Responsibilities
The hygienist will be responsible for the following:
Actively participate and communicate with other staff
members regarding the patient experience by striving to
keep patients focused on optimal treatment while
attending to their individual concerns.
Maintain a clean, sterile and cheerful environment
where patients feel comfortable.
Educate and counsel patients on proper oral hygiene
and nutrition.
Perform dental hygiene and administer prophylactic
treatments.
Document all prophylactic treatments to patient's
electronic chart, including conditions of decay and disease
for diagnosis and treatment by Dr. Thompson.
Escort patients to and from the operatory.
Schedule and confirm hygiene appointments and
maintain recall system.
Take, develop and mount radiographs as required to
assist in diagnosing treatments.
Perform select clerical duties of office support staff in
the general dental clinic when there are significant slow
periods or to provide relief when there are illnesses or
vacation, or when there is not a hygiene patient.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will have:
Certification by the State of Texas as a registered
dental hygienist.
Certifications for monitoring nitrous oxide and CPR.
A minimum of 5 years experience as a RDH in a fast-
paced practice where charting and treatment plans are
done electronically.
A positive, can do attitude.
A team oriented approach to working with others.
Dedication to the dental profession.
A strong work ethic and desire to achieve goals.
Attention to detail.
The ability to communicate effectively with patients and
co-workers.
