The oral microbiome has hundreds of microorganisms, such as bacteria, viruses and fungi that serve as an important ecosystem in the mouth. The oral microbiome is one of the most abundant in the human body, only second to the gut. Scientific evidence has shown that dysbiosis in the oral cavity can impact the gut health of the patient. This course is designed to educate the clinician on what causes dysbiosis and promotes symbiosis in the oral cavity to positively impact the gut health of the patient.
Identify five different common factors that can promote a dysbiotic environment
Determine the link between the oral and gut microbiome
Review environmental factors that influence the oral and gut microbiome
Examine the vital nutrients, supplements, and vitamins that promote symbiosis
