Located in Kearny NJ. Education / Experience: Associate Degree or Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited school with a current state license and at least one year experience in dealing with the public in a consumer services area that requires excellent phone skills and greeting people in person. CPR and first aid training, as well as knowledge of radiation safety is mandatory. Infiltration Certification Personal Characteristics: • Excellent communication and organizational skills • Excellent manual dexterity as well as the ability to write concisely and legibly • Ability to complete tasks within a given time frame • Congenial personality, outgoing but focused and capable of dealing with multiple tasks • Ability to deal with needs of practice and patients and capacity to maintain a calm demeanor regardless of the situation • Ability to function within a team environment as a supportive and positive contributor Responsibilities • Knowledge with Dentrix • Knowledge of Sidexis and Florida Probe (preferred but not required) • Perform the usual and customary chairside procedures of a dental hygienist such as scaling and root planing, cleaning and polishing, fluoride treatments and application of sealants, making patient comfort top priority • Take patient vital signs • Take and any necessary radiographs • Communicate effectively any treatment needs per the Doctor’s treatment plan, segmenting the needed appointments and documenting this on the treatment plan • Give oral hygiene instructions to patients, communicating as effectively as possible and using any visual aids necessary • Teach patients how to prevent tooth decay and gum disease through proper diet and oral homecare / Review Home Care instructions and status of products every 3 months (toothpaste, rinse, toothpaste heads, etc) • Document completely and accurately on progress notes any treatment performed as well as notation of anything else concerning the patient’s visit to the office • Consistently follow all OSHA guidelines and Universal Precautions regarding infection control and safety • Have patient’s next appointment scheduled before the patient leaves • Be responsible for hygiene production • Be responsible for patients being seen on time and leaving on time • Recommend all procedures hygienist can perform such as prophy, fluoride, root planing and scaling, sealants, night guards, desensitizing, tooth whitening
