Lakeside Implant & Oral Surgery is a growing practice seeking an experienced Surgical Assistant to join our team! SURGICAL ASSISTANT RESPONSIBILITIES · Prepares treatment room by adhering to prescribed procedures and protocols · Setting up surgical instruments and equipment, sterile drapes & sterile solutions · Assemble sterile and non-sterile equipment · Takes dental radiographs · Takes and records patient’s medical history and vital signs · Make sure all medical histories and consent forms are signed by surgeon · Management of medical clearance and other clinical documents · Prepare patient consent forms · Monitors intravenous fluids and vital signs during and after surgery · Assists surgeon with general anesthesia and intravenous sedation procedures · Transfers & holds instruments & other sterile supplies to surgeon · Prepares surgical dressings · Operate sterilizer, lights, or suction machines · Record notes and drugs used during procedure · Gives patients post-operative care instructions · Clean operatory after surgery · Maintains equipment and instruments by proper care, cleaning, and sterilization · Maintains inventory of supplies in operatory · Maintains safe and clean working environment & complies with OSHA policies · Ensuring infection control compliance · Maintain patient data according to company & HIPAA compliance · Ensuring team certifications are current (OSHA, CPR, ACLS, etc) · Ensuring autoclave is cleaned routinely · Management of equipment repairs and maintenance, when required · Monthly management of crash cart checklist · Take responsibility for the appearance and functionality of the back office · Proactive management of supply inventory or ordering · Proactive management of implant supply and ordering · Ensure referring offices receive copy of implant memos, biopsy reports, etc. SURGICAL ASSISTANT QUALIFICATIONS: · It is preferred that the candidate holds a Dental Anesthesia Assistant Certification · Dental Assistant must have received a certificate of completion from an accredited certified dental assistant program · Chair side experience in an oral surgery setting required, a minimum of 2yrs is desired · Must be reliable and have strong interpersonal communication skills for working with other dental office team members and patients. · Experience with OMS Vision software is a plus
