Dental Assistant Overall Responsibilities Responsible for assisting dentist on patient treatment procedures including verifying procedures are correct before treatment begins, setting up the room before treatment begins, assisting during the procedure, getting all consent forms signed and turned into the front desk, completing post-op treatment, and giving post op information to the patient. Also responsible for maintaining sterilization of instruments and operatories according to OSHA regulations. Responsible for case submission to the lab, lab case follow-up, and lab molds. Key Tasks and Responsibilities • Assist the Doctor on all dental procedures • Seat patients in the chair in a timely manner • Perform all needed x-rays on patients • Verify all procedure specific x-rays are complete before procedures begin • Educate patients on all procedures to be done • Schedule any follow up appointments resulting from procedures completed • Stock operatories and help other assistants keep rooms stocked • Chart thoroughly all procedures done using the S.O.A.P. format and document thoroughly what was said to the patient • Maintain all clinical notes about patient interaction • Insure that all completed procedures are accurately entered into the appointment card before taking the patient up front to check out • Be sure to complete all routing slips accurately and give these to the front as patient is checking out • Complete lab work on time including bleaching trays, study models, and any other assigned lab work • Enter and complete treatment plans in the practice management software and discuss with Treatment Coordinators about details such as staged treatment, patient information, and any dentist specifics • Turn all equipment on at beginning of each day and off when the day is done • Maintain all OSHA regulations at all times • Keep work areas including the lab, sterilization, operatories, pan machine, iCat, and any other areas neat and organized Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities • Must be a team player • Knowledge of dental procedures and instruments • Proficient in the practice management software • Excellent customer service skills • Complete and maintain Kodak x-ray training • OSHA knowledge • CPR Certified • HEP B Vaccinated • Positive, professional attitude • Detail oriented • Proficient in Windows and MS Office software
