ASSOCIATE DENTIST NEEDED Are you a dentist interested in learning and doing more with dental implants and complex prosthodontics? Do you want to be a part of a small but highly productive dental team? Are you able to work independently, performing good quality dentistry and treating people compassionately? If so, you may be perfect for this open associate dentist position. Dr. Adam M. Hogan is seeking a competent, capable and eager associate who wants to be a part of a long-term business partnership. Independently, Candidates must be able to: 1. Diagnose 2. Treatment plan 3. Educate patients and create desire 4. Perform the dentistry to a high degree of quality. This position is an autonomous position in a second practice location. As such the candidate must be able to independently perform on his/her own with little direct supervision. This means that I have to be able to trust you are delivering good care. But it also means that you have the luxury of independence. You can make your own treatment decisions. You can function as an independent dentist without the liability and worry of a business owner. The ideal candidate already possesses skills in diagnosis, treatment planning, restorative dentistry, crown & Bridge, simple oral surgery/exodontia, emergency dentistry, pediatric dentistry, Dr. Hogan is willing to mentor and teach you nitrous oxide/anxiolysis, complex oral surgery, complex prosthodontics and most importantly implant and reconstructive dentistry. The ideal candidate would want to take advantage of this opportunity and learn as much as they can from Dr. Hogan, an AAID Fellow, ABOI Diplomate, and AAID Board Examiner on the Admissions and Credentialing Committee. HOURS OF OPERATION Tuesday - Friday 9am-6pm Saturday 9am-3pm (Must be able to work Saturdays but enjoy Sunday and Monday off.) Job Description Associate Dentist Reports to: Owner, President, and Office Manager REQUIREMENTS of the position Must have DDS or DMD degree from an accredited dental school Must be licensed to practice in state and meet other applicable state requirements Must have a valide DEA license. Must have dental malpractice insurance with a minimum of $2,xxx,xxx per occurance (Virginia Cap on litigation) Experience in area of special interest Must be current on state Continuing Education requirements Must NOT have any current and/or open Dental Board Complaints or open litigation Must Disclose all Past/Closed Dental Board Complaints or settled litigation. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Diagnose, manage and treat patients to achieve excellent results Maximizes patient comfort Respects and treats auxillary personnel well. Delivers the highest quality care to patients Administering the day-to-day activities of the business office, including (but not limited to:) maintenance of patient records, scheduling of patients, inventory control; internal marketing, external marketing, OSHA compliance, Staff Training, Staff Accountability, Coordination of Referrals in/out of the practice. Know the practice mission, and short-term goals. Assist the dentist with other tasks as assigned. Clinical Skills Associate Dentist must be able to provide good to excellent quality of care in any aspect or discipline of dentistry that he/she performs. Dental work must be done to the level of a specialist. Practice Management Manages and direct staff assignments and activities for patient care in accordance with office policy and applicable State and local laws and OSHA regulations. Help manage dental office HIPAA privacy and security compliance Manage and direct staff assignments and activities, in accordance with office policy, OSHA, Unemployment Commission, Worker's Compensation, The VA Board of Dentistry and all applicable laws Manage dental office HIPAA privacy and security compliance Manage compliance with OSHA, state and federal regulations Stay current with trends, legislation and regulations in the dental profession Patient Management Oversee patient relations and handle patient concerns appropriately Monitor patient relations with regular patient satisfaction surveys Greet new patients; pull any appropriate X-rays; review health history Communicate financial information and explanation of benefits to patients before treatment is rendered Maintain a professional reception area/office to include outside front of building and restrooms Send copy of patient record for consultation with specialists; arrange appointments and manage communications with specialty offices and referring offices. Sees that records are stored securely and handled in compliance with legal requirements, including the HIPAA privacy and security regulations, if applicable Communicates with patients in an understandable and professional way Checks on patient comfort during treatment; helps to allay patient anxiety Asks good patients for referrals of family and friends as new patients of our practice and has a goal of asking at least 2 patients per day Educates patients about the need to do necessary dental work and has the patient ready to accept treatment even before the doctor's exam When patients refuse to schedule or discuss treatment, properly records this refusal and a reason for the refusal in the patient's chart. Gives patient instruction and demonstrate when necessary Monitors and contributes to smooth patient flow Helps patient to feel comfortable in our office and like a member of our "family" Records Management Sees that records are stored securely and handled in compliance with legal requirements, including the HIPAA privacy and security regulations if applicable Accurately files patient information Tracks cases and referral to and from other doctors makes a written note of treatment, time required for treatment, and treatment plan and properly conveys that information to the front office while patient is in the presence. types that information into the "Notes" section of the patient chart and saves changes in the digital chart. Ensures that the patient's digital chart is up to date with respect to preexisting conditions, watch conditions, restorations, proposed restorations and missing teeth Sees that records are securely stored and handled in compliance with legal requirements, including the HIPAA, privacy and security regulations Accurately files patient information Inventory Management Monitor inventory and order dental office supplies as needed and before they run out. Ensure that treatment rooms are stocked at all times Records and State and Federal Regulations Management Ensure that HIPAA Notice of Privacy Practices is on display, if applicable See that records are stored securely and handled in compliance with HIPAA privacy and security regulations, if applicable Oversee and implement state and federal employment regulations Accounts Receivable and Payable Management Helps the office manager to ensure his/her production and collections are accurate each day. (Credits to his/her account must be noted within one week of the close of business on that day.) Marketing and Public Relations Management Help implement internal and external marketing strategies. Practice Promotion Know the practice mission, long-term business plan, and short-term goals Develops specific approaches to attract a constant influx of new patients and retain patients of record Maintain good relationships with other professionals in the community Office Participation Promotes team concept through interaction with others in the office Participates in staff social engagements. Makes recommendations to office manager or doctor for improvements to our office procedures, policies, patient treatment, or anything else that might improve a patient's experience. Have good interpersonal skills to maintain effective rapport with patients, dentists, and coworkers Has effective verbal skills, communication, tact to communicate with patients and staff Speaks positively about this office in public and asks friends, family and acquaintances to try our office or transfer dental records to be a patient in our office Is familiar with the 14 leadership principles of the office and implements them daily always having at least a "satisfactory" rating Good interpersonal skills to maintain effective rapport with patients, dentists, other staff members, and community Effective verbal skills to communicate with patients and staff Be an active participant in staff meetings, a team player and a good coworker with friendly mannerism. Good verbal and interpersonal skills to maintain effective rapport with patients, dentists, other staff members, and community Team player (Support staff as needed i.e., appointment scheduling, collections, insurance, etc.) Staff Management Assign, direct, and manage staff duties Determine amendments to staff schedules and notify Doctors Handle hiring process as outlined in employee manual Orient and train new staff Train staff on HIPAA privacy and security compliance Monitor staff performance Coordinate staff meetings Make CE and travel arrangements for dentist and staff as directed by president. Implements a preventative maintenance/cleaning schedule for dental equipment. Maintain a log of staff vacation and sick days. Education and Training of Staff Shares information with the rest of the office team to improve auxillary staff's knowledge of dentistry Interpersonal Able to discuss all dental needs with patients, be objective, and be pleasant Able to work with staff and convey needs in a participatory manner Able to work well in the community SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Staff Management Helps recruit, interview, select, and terminate staff members, when appropriate Helps resolve personnel issues within the office with the help of the personnel involved Is active participant in staff meetings and practice social engagements Supervises and Ensures that the Staff is compliant and adequately performing their duties per their job description. Location: Virginia Beach Compensation: 30% of Collections Note- Your compensation is a direct reflection of your abilities. In the past, I have seen associates with barely enough potential to make $65,xxx/year.
