POSITION: Dental Assistant POSITION SUMMARY: Performs a variety of dental assisting duties, within compliance of state regulations, to promote quality dental care for patients in a stress-free, comfortable environment. Assists the doctor, teaches patients how to care for their teeth, communicates effectively with patients, maintains equipment and inventory, and follows universal precautions and all OSHA requirements to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff. DUTIES : Take and develop x-rays as needed Prepare patients for diagnosis or treatment Assist doctor during diagnosis and treatment Perform post-operative patient care Pull/File Patient Charts Perform instrument sterilization and infection control in the office Clean and stock operatories Control inventory of clinical supplies Copy X-rays as needed Confirm Appointments *You will be required to do additional assignments when necessary PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be in good physical condition and able to withstand the stress and demands of an active practice. Must be able to endure long hours of standing, walking, stooping, bending, and sitting. Manual dexterity, good eye-hand coordination, and adequate vision and hearing are needed in daily work. JOB SPECIFICATIONS High school graduate Dental experience preferred Hepatitis B Vaccination Radiographer Certification BLS Certification through AHA, ARC, or ASHI Completion of N2O Monitoring Course for Dental Assistants CDA/DANB preferred/required in 1st year Coronal Polishing Certification/required in 1st year COMPETENCIES Exceptional human relation skills Ability to work with people of all ages Ability to handle conflicts and get along with people Ability to maintain outgoing, friendly attitude with patients and staff even under pressure Ability to work with interruptions and to manage multiple priorities Ability to speak, understand, and write grammatically correct English knowledge of dentistry Manual dexterity Ability to complete tasks within time frame Ability to accept and follow instructions from supervisor SKILLS (equipment) Autoclave Suction Handpieces O2 and N2O Panorex X-ray Amalgamator Processor Statim Ultrasonic
