Orthodontic dental assistants help orthodontists in many aspects of patient care
and procedures. This often requires taking x-rays of the bone structure of a
patient's jaw, as well as taking photographs of the teeth and creating molds of a
Orthodontic assistants help orthodontists prepare for procedures by having the
necessary tools sterilized and in place. They often help keep a patient's mouth
clean and dry during procedures and will hand an orthodontist the necessary tools
at the appropriate time. An assistant also may assist in scheduling appointments.
May be asked to do orthodontic recall from time to time as well administrative
duties as needed.
Requirement: Must have High School Diploma and one year of orthodontic assisting
experience as well as a current RDA certification in the State of Texas.
