Roles and responsibilities • Educate and motivate patients on proper oral hygiene and corrective/preventative measures • Examine oral areas, head, and neck for signs of oral disease • Clean calcareous deposits, accretions, and stains from teeth and beneath margins of gums • Able to develop and discuss the proposed treatment plan from doctor • Use probes to examine gums to local periodontal recessed gums and signs of gum disease • Prepare and properly set up and re-stock treatment rooms for hygiene procedures • Welcome and seat patient cheerfully • Capture x-rays, and mount for doctor to view; capable of interpreting x- rays independently • Correctly notate areas of concern and communicate findings clearly to doctor and patient • Apply fluorides and other cavity preventing agents to arrest dental decay • Ability to calm and reassure patients facing uncomfortable or painful procedures • Schedule and confirm appropriate re-care appointments Others responsibilities include: • Assist dental assistants in sterilization duties • Participate in marketing efforts and patient contact • Participate in morning meeting and provide information regarding patients for the day • Maintain regular attendance and adhere to assigned work schedule and office policies • Performs light housekeeping around office Opportunity for advancement to LEAD HYGIENEIST POSITION (we currently do not have a lead) • In addition to hygienist duties above, lead hygienist will be responsible to over see other hygienist and employees in hygiene department, ensure they are effectively trained and accountable for their roles and responsibilities. • Additionally, a weekly 90-minute leadership meeting will be required. • Weekly to do tasks that may include creating SOPs(standard operating procedures), maintaining equipment, scheduling training sessions for team, holding team and self accountable.
