Description
PURPOSE: The Front Office Receptionist serves patients and visitors by answering phones, assisting patients with checking out, taking payments and scheduling appointments. This position is supervised. SERVICE ORIENTATION: This position is patient focused with the objective of ensuring positive patient experiences and outcomes. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: -Reviews Practice Management System (Dentrix) for information that needs to be updated. Works with patients to obtain updated information and accurately enters information. -Responsible for keeping the reception area clean and organized. -Obtains revenue by recording and updating financial information; recording and collecting patient copays and/or balances at check in/out. -Protects patients’ rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal and financial information. -Maintains operations by following policies and procedures, and reports changes as needed. -Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results, as needed. -Routinely demonstrates superior customer service skills. -Answers the telephone in a timely and polite manner. -Communicates with patients, visitors, providers and team members in a courteous, professional, cooperative and mature manner. SKILLS: -Ability to communicate with employees, doctors and various business contacts in a professional and courteous manner. -Excellent oral and written communication skills, thinks critically and strategically. -Excellent relationship-building skills and works well with others using tact and diplomacy. -Must be highly professional in appearance, tone and delivery and an effective communicator. -Dedicated to follow-thru and results. -Flexibility as it relates to schedule, responsibilities and priorities. -Must be an exceptional listener, with the proven ability to problem-solve issues discussed. -Interpersonal skills and strong organizational skills are important. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: High school graduate or GED. One year dental experience working in a office, preferably front office, or equivalent combination of training and experience preferred.
