Lakeside Implant and Oral Surgery is seeking an experienced Surgical Assistant to join our team! Review schedule and verify all information needed for the appointment: lab case, clearance, referral, medical history, patient charts, x-rays, etc.
Manages patient pre-operative preparation such as starting videos, distributing procedure materials, and gathering information for the surgeon.
Prepare patient consent forms.
Prepares treatment room by adhering to prescribed procedures and protocols; setting up surgical instruments and equipment, sterile drapes and sterile solutions as required.
Assemble sterile and non-sterile equipment.
Takes dental radiographs.
Takes and records patient’s vital signs such as blood pressure, weight, height and calculate BMI.
Make sure all medical histories and consent forms are signed by surgeon.
Ensure Medical Clearances are obtained and reviewed prior to surgery.
Monitors intravenous fluids and vital signs during and after the surgery procedure.
Assists surgeon with general anesthesia and intravenous sedation procedures.
Transfers instruments and other sterile supplies to the surgeon; holds surgical instruments as directed by the surgeon.
Prepares surgical dressings.
Operate sterilizer, lights, or suction machines.
Record notes and drugs used during procedure.
Gives patients post-operative care instructions.
Clean operatory after surgery.
Maintains equipment and instruments by proper care, cleaning, and sterilization.
Maintains inventory of supplies in operatory.
Manages post operative questions from patients.
SAFETY and QUALITY
Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with OSHA infection control policies.
Ensuring infection control compliance.
Maintain patient data according to regulations and company policies in addition to HIPAA compliance.
Ensuring team certifications are current (OSHA, CPR, ACLS, etc).
Ensuring autoclave is cleaned routinely.
Management of equipment repairs and maintenance, when required.
Monthly management of crash cart checklist.
Take responsibility for the appearance and functionality of the back office.
Proactive management of supply inventory or ordering.
Proactive management of implant supply and ordering.
