You will work directly under the direction of the Springmill Family Dental and will primarily be responsible for preparing for and assisting with dental and oral procedures. You will greet and prepare patients before dental exams and procedures, as well as clean and polish patients teeth and offer guidance on oral hygiene and care. You will be required to use a variety of dental equipment and machines. Also, you will be required to maintain patient files, ensure accurate note taking, book appointments and follow up with patients. You will also be responsible for cleaning, maintaining dental equipment, tools and instruments and ensuring necessary items are stocked.

Job Duties: Greet patients, prepare patient for dental examination and assist the dentist during examinations and procedures. Clean and polish teeth and clinical crowns (if permitted); apply fluoride and sealants (if permitted). Sterilize or disinfect instruments, set up instrument trays and prepare materials. Take and develop patient x-rays. Record treatment information in patient records. Provide postoperative instructions prescribed by dentist. Assist dentist in management of medical or dental emergencies. Assess emergency situations; remain familiar with emergency protocols, knowledge of First Aid, CPR. Take and record medical and dental histories and other medical information including vital signs. Instruct patients in oral hygiene and plaque control programs. Order and monitor dental supplies and equipment, keep running inventory of equipment and supplies. Clean and proper maintenance of appliances and equipment. Take preliminary impressions for diagnostic casts. Fabricate and place temporary crowns and restorations. Educate patients on value and importance of proposed treatment plan prescribed by the doctor Schedule patient appointments and record dental procedures performed. Perform simple laboratory procedures such as the pouring and trimming of study models. Assists in maintaining emergency drug kits. Conducts spore/biological indicator tests. Other duties as assigned.
Requirements: Excellent verbal communication skills, including ability to listen and conserve with patients, using tact and discretion and the ability to teach good dental hygiene practices. Excellent written communication skills, including the ability to make notes in medical files, write invoices, create correspondences with patients and mental office records. Strong computer skills including ability to use Microsoft Office suite, email, spreadsheets, and medical software. Excellent customer service skills. Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with clients and dental practice staff.
