We are looking for an orthodontic assistant to join our growing team - opportunities available across all 16 office locations The role of the orthodontic assistant is to collaborate with the orthodontist to provide the initial patient treatment plan. The orthodontic assistant is a key member of our clinical team, responsible for providing direct patient care including insertion of dental appliances, placement of orthodontic brackets and wires, and taking dental impressions. Responsibilities: • Exceptional customer service skills with the drive to create a 5-Star patient experience • Provide direct patient care including insertion of dental appliances, placement of orthodontic brackets, and wires and take dental impressions. • Proper hand off to front desk coordinator for patient appointment scheduling and financials. • Maintaining accurate records of patients oral health history and treatment progress • Ensuring that all orthodontic instruments and equipment are properly sterilized before each use • Keeping patients’ mouth dry during orthodontic procedures by using a suction hose as needed • Taking intraoral X-rays of patients’ mouths as needed and when requested by the Doctor • Taking photographs of patients’ teeth, face, and smile to aid the Orthodontist in developing treatment plans and to document patient progress • Taking dental molds of patients’ teeth for the fabrication of customized mouth guards and retainers • Removing and replacing wires, coil springs, donuts, and elastic bands • Educating patients on proper oral hygiene practices and braces aftercare • Proficient in the use of digital impression/imaging technology • Proficient in Electronic Medical Record utilization • Accurate dental progress notes Requirements: • High school diploma or GED • Associate degree in Dental Assisting • Radiographic Certification • Certified as an Orthodontic Assistant by the Dental Assisting National Body (DANB) • Licensed to provide orthodontic assistance • CPR/BLS certification • Sound knowledge of various orthodontic procedures and practices • Good manual dexterity • Excellent organizational skills • Effective communication skills Reports to: • This position reports to the Director of Clinical Operations Job type: • This is a full-time position; Monday-Friday 8:00AM-5:00PM Benefits and Perks: • Comprehensive insurance (medical, dental, vision, FSA, HSA) with monthly Employer contribution • Two weeks paid vacation • Professional development (eLearning) opportunities • Flexible scheduling • Travel reimbursement • Employee discount program (access to thousands of retailers) • Employee referral program • Monthly bonus opportunities • Monthly drawings for employee appreciation • Wireless discount through ATandT
