Description

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION: A Dental Support Coordinator typically works at the administration office and provides non clinical support for their assigned practice(s). They collaborate with the Practice Office Manager(s) and Practice Owner(s) on all necessary tasks and activities to help the practice manage their schedule, insurance claims cycle, accounts receivables, keep accurate patient ledgers, keep up with marketing activities and serves as a point of contact for their assigned practice(s). DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: The Dental Support Coordinator is responsible for providing dental support services to their assigned practice(s) and routinely meets with the Practice Office Manager(s) accomplish the agreed upon performance goals. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: Verifying all patient insurance information Updating patient records with the correct fees and coverage information Reviewing and correcting any rejected claims or claims with errors Keep records of all conversations in a centralized computer database Maintains patient confidentiality through HIPAA compliance. Successfully submitting claims Submitting any appropriate narratives and attachments whenever necessary Retrieving and processing Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) Making appropriate and accurate adjustments whenever necessary Following up on open or outstanding claims Following up on outstanding patient balances Handling patient inquiries about balances and insurance Managing inbound and outbound calls in a timely manner Scheduling patient appointments Managing appointment reminders and confirmations Coordinating with the Practice Manager(s) EDUCATION/TRAINING and EXPERIENCE: Minimum A high school diploma or equivalent 1 or more years of experience working in a professional, medical, or dental environment with direct customer service Preferred A degree, certificate or at least some training in dental or medical billing A working knowledge of dental procedures, codes, and insurance practices 2 or more years of experience working in a dental office environment SKILLS/ABILITIES/CORE COMPETENCIES: Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills; must be able to establish and maintain positive working relationships. Customer service oriented and able to communicate with a pleasant demeanor at all times. Effective written and verbal communication with all staff and management. Must possess excellent organizational skills, strong attention to detail, be able to multitask and perform job duties in a timely manner. Strong PC skills and ability to learn and successfully use new programs as required. WORKING CONDITIONS: WORK ENVIRONMENT: Business office HOURS/SHIFT: Full time/Part time SALARY: $11-$14/hr
