Responsibilities and Duties To perform quality, caring clinical dentistry. The dental hygienist is responsible for preparing the room for the patient, maintaining equipment, greeting and preparing the patient for the visit, performing screening procedures, completing dental prophylaxis and removing calculus and plaque, taking dental radiographs, applying preventative materials, educating patients with appropriate oral hygiene strategies, counseling patients on good nutrition, making impressions, maintaining dental supplies inventory, and completing office management activities including documentation of services. The dental hygienist will also be responsible for meeting and greeting patients, answering the telephone, scheduling appointments, communicating with patients regarding financial and scheduling options, delivering treatment plans, maintaining patient records and coordinating patient flow. Qualifications and Skills - Current Illinois Dental Hygiene License - Local Anesthesia and Nitrous Oxide Monitoring Certifications* - One year of dental hygiene experience* - Dentrix system experience* - High school diploma or equivalent - Comfortable working with families - Excellent customer service skills and hospitality - Hard working, outgoing, adaptable, self-motivated, and punctual - Great communication skills - Work well with a team *Experience in the dental field is preferred although not required.
