Our Angela is heading for a new home in the burbs at the end of November and we are sad to see her go. The Front Desk Patient Treatment Coordinator/Receptionist position will soon be available at our small, upbeat one-dentist private practice in Buckhead (Atlanta, 30305) that is located within a modern, well-equipped single-level, ground-floor suite on Piedmont Road just south of the Peachtree Street intersection. Those with 1-5 years front office experience seem to match our practice best. Enough years to be self-sufficient, yet not so many years that unteachable-inflexibility arises. However, for the right candidate we would be willing to train someone with no dental office experience but previous non-dental client-facing or non-dental front-desk/reception experience. Ideally applicants in the early stages of our search will be able to gain insight by shadowing Angela in her final month of November with us. An overlap of new-hire with her current working days is possible. Our sweet-spot tends to be an applicant who has experience at the entry-level position of a dental office (front desk greeter, telephone appointing, etc) who is now ready to take his/her responsibilities to the next level. Keeping that hygiene schedule full and being courteous to patients in person and on the phone is the main objective. This is not a management position. If you are retired from the Front Desk Dental world and would like to pick up some occasional shifts to help us through the transistion, please let us know that too. Read carefully to the end on how to apply, before hitting the button, please. Normally interviews will be held near end-of-workday M-T-W-Th or later if more convenient for applicant, and during the day on Fridays. Weve learned that the right team member for us is typically one who is careful about the right practice for her/him, so we offer a low-pressure trial run of temp paid working days. It usually answers a lot of questions for both of us. About Us: Small, upbeat one-dentist private practice in Buckhead. Dentist is MCG Augusta grad, class of 03, with additional hospital residency (GPR) at Truman Medical Center/Univ. Missouri Kansas City. MCG has changed names about 12 times in the last several years, so you may know it as Georgia Health Sciences Univ or Georgia Regents Univ or Dental College of Georgia at Augusta University. Our practice surgically places and restores dental implants, uses up-to-date restorations such as all-ceramic-crowns and well-designed eMax onlays. Hes a stickler for closed margins, well-sealed-composites, and restorations that really look and feel like teeth. Practice is PPO/self-insured mix with no Medicaid, no capitation, nor HMO. We have team-members who travel in from Stockbridge, Alpharetta, Columbus, Warner Robins, and not too long ago from Social Circle and even North Carolina. Scheduling and billing is on computer practice management software called Easy Dental, very similar to Dentrix because both have same software manufacturer. Digital radiographs are on Kodak/Carestream system. Dentist was once employed with Walt Disney World, Vail and Associates, and Park City Mountain Resort in his previous life before dental school (laughing, but true) and this influences the practices daily goal to provide a positive, warm, engaging patient experience. We say Yes mam and No sir to patients just like Mama taught us, and call patients Mr. LastName, Mrs. LastName until a comfort level is established where the patient indicates first name is just fine. The voice of the person answering the phone at the front desk is the first impression our practice gives to a prospective patient, and at check-out is the parting impression given upon leaving. Prospective patients rarely are confidently excited about pursuing dental care (duh!) so there is little room to be anything thats not positive, encouraging, and inviting on the phone. If that resonates with you, then we should talk. We know that the patient appearing in our chair is the REASON for our business day, rather than an inconvenient interruption in our business day. In short, we create an environment that instills patient-desire to be here rather than elsewhere. About You: The ideal candidate has some experience with dental insurance and practice, 1-5 years ideally, but thats not set in stone. That part is teachable. Courtesy, warmth, hospitality, and a can-do attitude are the very important although more rare character traits we specifically seek. I have seen that Dental team-members with prior work experience in retail or restaurant-server settings often provide an excellent mix of clinical-care and welcoming hospitality towards patients. Most recently, a highly personable accountant with no dental training came in and excelled at our front desk. The ideal candidate would vote for a drama-free work environment where dentistry is recommended and performed with integrity, versus a glitzy-glam office where meeting patients needs is not always at the top of the priority list. Hours are M-Thur approx 8am to 5ish, alternating Fridays are usually 8:45am to 2:30pm. The ideal candidate will be flexible on times rather than a clock-watcher. How to apply: We have set up a gmail account, , for hiring. The automatic-website-email-applications are rarely read at this office, sorry. INSTEAD: AT LEAST, please email your RESUME (.pdf/.doc) and attached PHOTO (.jpg or similar) (with your cat or not, at the ballgame or not, whatever) to . At THE MOST, come by at your convenience during our workday, drop off your resume and introduce yourself. Dr. Poole may have a moment to say Hi as well. At any rate, be sure to submit the same things by email so we can keep them organized. We are located in a midrise building with free parking, Piedmont Court, at 3098 Piedmont Rd, NE, Atlanta, GA 30305. Lobby level, the only dentist office there. Thanks for reading, and we look forward to hearing from you. Phone and fax contact will be frowned upon, because email at is best.
