Description

Small office seeking a registered dental assistant with at least 5 years of relevant experience. Priority given to those who have cross trained as an office manager. This is a well-compensated part-time position. (32 hours per week, 42 weeks per year. No weekends. May work 1 or 2 Fridays a year.) Working hours are M-Th: 6:30am - 4pm, with lunch from 12pm - 1:30pm. Pay is hourly, and competitive based on experience and what the candidate brings to the table. We need an assistant who can works hard and be professional. We are only open part time, we dont offer paid vacation or sick days. We run 2 active operatories out of 4. An additional operatory is used for limited PAs, smoothing teeth or other minor adjustments. We see around 7 hygiene per day and maybe 7 on the doctor side. Below are the basic expectations of the Dental Assistant at Fitzgerald Family Dental Practice. Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to: • Make certain that the operatory is fully set up prior to seating the patient and the arrival of Dr. Fitzgerald. This includes having the high and slow speed hand pieces, burs, syringe, needle and anesthetic and the materials required for the given procedure are available prior to the seating of the patient and arrival of the doctor. • Politely and professionally meet and greet patients, seating them in the dental chair and getting them prepared for their fun dental experience. • Assist Dr Fitzgerald during all dental procedures following the appropriate OSHA and ADA infection control protocols of sterilizing instruments in a prompt and timely manner. • Obtain detailed impressions of patients for the creation of diagnostic casts, wax-ups, Smile Transitions, etc. • Obtain and organize diagnostic full mouth radiographic series and chart pre-existing work in the patient’s chart. • Educate patients on subjects of post-operative dental instructions, temporary crown and bridge knowledge and appropriate home care. • Sterilize and clean the dental operatory and equipment in between patients making certain to keep the operatory tidy. Keep the supply ordering list up-to-date. • Application of topical anesthetic with the knowledge of locations to be anesthetized. • Aid the Dental Hygienist in function when required (perio charting, suctioning, turning over the room, helping with trash). • Be willing to clean rooms, floors and bathroom as needed. We split the chore of cleaning the office among the office manager, hygienist and dental assistant. It is not too hard or involved. • Be properly trained in front office procedures and protocol and available to assist or temporarily cover for the Office Manager when necessary (1 – 2 hours a day max).
