Atlantic Periodontics is looking for a skilled dental hygienist who can educate and care for the periodontal health of our diverse patient population and improve the oral health of our community. The ideal candidate will be skilled in diagnosing oral diseases, oral hygiene instruction, dental prophylaxis, scaling and root planing and delivery of local anesthesia. Responsibilities: • Teeth cleaning, which includes removing tartar, plaque, and stains using hand, power and ultrasonic tools • Scaling and root planing and administering necessary local anesthesia • Proficiency in taking xrays • Examining patients for signs of oral health problems, like early periodontal disease, cavities, teeth grinding, and more • Assessing a patient’s overall oral health and reporting findings to the periodontists • Educating patients on good oral hygiene and methods of improving and maintaining good oral health, such as the proper way to brush and floss • Documenting patient care and treatment plans Skills: • Proven experience as a dental hygienist; periodontal office experience a plus • Knowledge of dental instruments, instrument sharpening and sterilization methods • Understanding of health and safety regulations • Good computer skills: Open Dental and DEXIS a plus • Excellent communication and people skills • Attention to detail • Well-organized and reliable • RDH required • Local anesthesia certification • Xray certification and CPR certified Hours: Full time available, part time available Pay: $42-$48 per hour based on experience Benefits: Health insurance, vacation, sick time, holidays, bonuses, profit sharing, 401K and more for full time employee and limited benefits for part time employee
