Average annual income decreased as hours per week decreased
Although the average hourly wage rose 7%, year over year, total income decreased by 3.4%. In 2022, 54.25% were working 37 or more hours per week compared with 35.81% in 2023.
More received benefits
In 2023, 92% received some benefits, compared to 73.25% in 2022.
Turnover was high in 2023
17.65% changed employers in the previous 12 months, citing higher pay and new locations as the top two motivations.
Dental billing specialist
Full-time income and benefits increased
Year over year, the average full-time income of billing specialists increased by 3.43%. In 2023, 92% received some benefits compared to 73.25% in 2022.
Nearly 46% are applying for new jobs
In addition to the 46% actively applying for new jobs in late 2023 and planning to in 2024, another 18.9% are considering doing so. This means that up to 65% of dental billing specialists are likely looking at job postings in 2024. The search for higher pay is by far the top driver in 2024.
Dental practice manager
Practice managers’ pay significantly increased
Year over year, their average hourly wage increased by 16.4% and their average full-time income by 13.02%. In 2023, only 24.4% were “dissatisfied” or “very dissatisfied” with their compensation.
Nearly all receive benefits
This year, 99.5% reported they received a variety of benefits, compared to 73.25% in 2022.
