Description
Confusion – Delusion – Occlusion: no dental student is surprised that these words rhyme since they were experienced almost universally together as we sought to learn what we needed to know. I remember the “discussions” at the faculty station in the 4th year clinic between people I respected that could only be termed a very full and frank exchange of views. I also remember thinking that if these smart folks could not agree on this subject, what hope was there for me? I have come to discover after 44 years doing this that occlusion does not matter, unless it does. I look forward to sharing how this epiphany liberated me as restorative dentist and made occlusion something fun to manage with patients for whom it matters.
