Company: MyCHN Position: General Dentist Work Locations: MyCHN Technology Drive MyCHN is a nonprofit organization providing Medical, Dental, Behavioral Health, and Pharmacy services to communities in the Greater Houston and Gulf Coast area. We were founded in 2008 with one provider, three exam rooms and a big dream. Today, we have over 100 providers and more than 15 locations. MyCHN’s mission is to “provide quality care that uplifts, supports, and shapes healthy communities while addressing financial and social barriers”. Job Summary: To be a successful dentist in our health center, you should be caring, communicative, and experienced in diagnosing and treating dental ailments. This position will play a key role in providing quality dental care in our fast-growing primary and integrated care facilities. The dentist should also be skilled with the various tools and procedures needed to correct dental complaints and ensure the oral health of patients. The prime focus will be meeting with patients, examining, and assessing their dental health, perform scheduled cleanings, handle complex procedures and carrying out the treatment plan in a competent and efficient manner, such as fillings, root canals, and extractions. This position will also work with other staff members, such as dental hygienists and assistants, to provide our patients with high quality dental services. CHN’s Dentists should be able to provide a comprehensive range of services to our patients and assist in the management of the practice and promote a collaboration of interprofessional continuum of care to our growing patient population. Duties and Responsibilities: • Meeting with patients to discuss and treat dental concerns, perform routine exams and other preventative procedures, and establish a plan for better oral health • Performing dental procedures, such as extractions, root canals, and filling of cavities • Applying helpful agents to teeth, such as sealants or whiteners • Design and fit dental prosthetics, such as bridges, crowns and dentures • Prescribing medications for dental problems, such as pain medications or antibiotics. • Giving clients sedatives or anesthesia prior to administering treatments. • Ordering diagnostic measures, such as x-rays, models, etc. • Using tools, such as drills, probes, brushes, or mirrors, to examine and treat teeth and mouth • Keeping records relating to the oral health of patients and the treatments given to them • Managing and communicating with other staff members to provide care to patients • Examines individuals requesting care, diagnoses dental/oral conditions, prescribes, and carries out, or directs others in carrying out appropriate dental/oral treatment, or refers individuals for specialty consultation or treatment in conformance with approved clinical protocols and guidelines • Records patient-dentist transactions as they occur in the patient’s dental record so that the dental record accurately and completely reflects the nature of the contact, the condition of the patient and the care or treatment provided. In addition, the Dentist shall complete referrals, data collection instruments and other records or paperwork as required by CHN • Educates individuals in oral health related conditions and in the general promotion of oral health related disease prevention Required Skills/Abilities: • A consumer advocate for quality preventative and comprehensive dental health care and services • Ability to work with people of all socioeconomic levels • Ability to maintain appropriate clinical privileges • FTCA coverage or private professional malpractice insurance obtainable • High ethical standards • Excellent communication skills • Must be a team player, well-organized, and self-directed • Ability to relate to people at all levels in the organization • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents • Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints • Microsoft office • Ability to operate computer, copier, and fax machine Preferred Skills/Abilities: • Ability to be clinically fluent in Spanish • Knowledge of public health principles and practices • Ability to maintain appropriate hospital privileges • Open Dental Required Education and Experience: • Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from a dental education program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation • Licensed by the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners as a general dentist • Possess a National Board Dental Examination license for general dentistry • DEA • Must be eligible for Medicare/Medicaid provider participation at the time of hire and while employed with CHN Preferred Education and Experience: • At least 4-6 years of clinical experience Benefits • Competitive productivity incentive program • Up to $50,000 in HRSA Student Loan Repayment • Health and Dental Insurance with the employee monthly premium paid 100% by MyCHN • 401 (k) with up to 4% company matching • Paid Time Off + Sick Time + CE Hours + Conference Hours + Holiday + Personal Day • $15,000 of Basic Life Insurance coverage paid by MyCHN • Continuing Education Stipend $2,500/year • Referral Bonus • Flexible schedules • High opportunity for growth • Other benefits offered: Vision, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, Hospital Indemnity, Critical Illness, etc.
