?Summary/Objective??
Assists dentist, sets up equipment, prepares patients for treatment, and keeps records. Provide courteous, unbiased, and professional service to patients and assist other clinic staff as required. Reliability and a strong work ethic combined with great communication skills are a must, as well as familiarity with all necessary office equipment, software, and procedures.? Also, front desk experience will be needed, with Dentrix experience.
Essential Functions?
• Prepares patient, sterilizes, or disinfects instruments, sets up instrument trays, prepares materials, and assists dentist during dental procedures.?
• Records treatment information in patient records.?
• Exposes dental diagnostic x-rays.?
• Records a patient’s medical and dental histories and vital signs.?
• Assists dentist in management of medical or dental emergencies.?
• Provides postoperative instructions prescribed by dentist.?
• Orders and monitors dental supplies and equipment inventory.?
• Fabricates temporary restorations or custom impressions from preliminary impressions.?
• Makes preliminary impressions for study casts and occlusal registrations for mounting study casts.?
• Pours, trims, and polishes study casts.?
• Cleans and polishes removable appliances.
? • Facilitates the scheduling, canceling, and rescheduling of patient appointments and communicates changes to staff as needed.
• Assist with registration and scheduling appointments at health fairs, outreach programs, and other offsite events.
• Coordinates with back-office staff to ensure for the timely and efficient flow of patients to the providers.
• Serves as call center personnel by answering calls, forwarding calls, making reminder calls to patients; and taking messages as appropriate for executive staff.
• Register and create EHR chart for new patients: assist patient in completion of necessary forms and consents; review patients’ intake forms to ensure completeness.
• Scan patient documents into EHR system; process inter-office documents and prepare for clinical department.
• Communicate with dental professionals and insurance company personnel to expedite patient eligibility into program and verify patient insurance coverage prior to patient appointment to determine eligibility.
• Verify household income information, Medicaid/managed care eligibility and selection of FQHC as primary care provider, when applicable.
• Request and record all co-payments, and any monies past due; safeguard cash and checks from collected payments.

Education and Experience?
High School Graduate?
Certificate from an accredited dental assistant program?
1-2 years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience?
