Description
A 55-year-old male enters your office with pre-diabetes, double knee replacements two years ago, and occasional seasonal allergies. You are planning to place an implant on #30, without a bone graft. What do you do? Should you prescribe an antibiotic? A dentist and an orthopedic surgeon will discuss the risks, benefits, and alternatives to antibiotic prophylaxis, challenging clinical issues resulting in a more efficacious solution to enhance patient safety and comfort.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
- Describe the current evidence and progress of the clinical practice guidelines for antibiotic prophylaxis.
- Discuss the gaps in the current evidence base, and how we can use the evidence we have for decision making.
- Outline the clinical decision-making steps for weighing the risks and benefits when prescribing antibiotics.
CONTINUING EDUCATION:
The Association for Dental Safety (ADS) designates this webinar for 1 ADA CERP CE Credit.
