Join SJVDHA the second Tuesday of each month during Summer 2026 for some fun learning and up to 6 CEUs earned. You can come to all three CEs or pick and choose the ones that work best for you. Let’s enjoy a summer evening, once a month with each other as we learn and earn CEs. Live virtual CE via Zoom. Zoom link will be sent 1-2 days prior to CE date.

Treating Dental Patients with Nutrition-Related Chronic Disease
Description: There is a large spectrum of
nutrition-related chronic diseases that include cardiovascular disease,
diabetes, neurological diseases, osteoporosis, metabolic syndrome and obesity. These disorders are highly prevalent in the general population and thus also among dental patients. Additionally, they require increased attention from oral healthcare professionals, in terms of how they impact the patient’s response to dental treatment. This session will explore the link between nutrition-related chronic diseases and oral disease, highlighting the role of nutrition in preventing both systemic and oral health issues.

When Cancer Patients Come to the Dental
Office: Collaborative Strategies for Xerostomia and Oral Mucositis Care
Synopsis: This session will discuss the impact of oral mucositis and
xerostomia on the oral cavity and the patient’s nutritional status. Explore the
indispensable role diet plays in enhancing healthy salivary flow. Oral
healthcare team members will gain a comprehensive toolkit that will help them collaborate and integrate dietary guidelines needed to improve the quality of life for cancer patients. By working together and understanding the science, oral health practitioners will be able to support patients who seek a more sustainable, longer lasting, and more efficacious outcome when managing oral side effects of radiation and chemotherapy.
