Description

Per Diem Employment Available Do you love to give back to the local community and provide care to those in need? The Blue Ridge Free Dental Clinic is seeking a Dentist for its well-regarded nonprofit free dental clinic in the Western North Carolina mountains. Located in Cashiers, NC, the Blue Ridge Free Dental Clinic's mission is to deliver high-quality emergency, restorative, and preventative dental care to people who cannot otherwise afford these critically needed services. We restore lives—one tooth at a time. Being a part of our Clinic will allow for a direct impact into the lives of people that need it most. We offer a competitive salary (up to $30,000 annually per day a week) or per diem compensation ($750-$800 per day) and a supportive and collaborative work environment. The Clinic is able to offer a flexible schedule of between one-four days per week, depending on the availability of the Dentist. Practice management, financial oversight, and administrative functions are typically the responsibility of the dentist(s) in a private practice setting. At our Clinic, administrative functions are divided among the Executive Director, Board of Directors, and Clinical Director—not the Dentist! History For 20 years, the Clinic has developed best practices that contribute to patient wellness, oral health equity, operational efficiencies, and a decrease in dental disease in five western North Carolina counties. Since its beginning, the Clinic has performed over 70,000 procedures over 23,000 patient visits with a value exceeding $11 million dollars. No other dental care provider in WNC offers comprehensive care—including emergency, restorative and preventative services—at absolutely no cost to the patient. While most of the patients who come to the Blue Ridge Free Dental Clinic are in pain with an urgent need, our comprehensive model of care goes far beyond emergency extractions. Currently, a per diem Staff Dentist, 20 volunteer dentists, one registered dental hygienist, and three dental assistants restore hundreds of smiles each year. This team is also active in our schools and community. They provide education, dental screenings, and fluoride treatments to students with a goal to end the generational cycle of poor oral health that exists in our mountain communities. Position Summary Dentist is responsible for administering, maintaining, and expanding a program of emergency, restorative, and preventive dental care in a nonprofit, free dental clinic setting. The Dentist works with the support of the dental staff of the Clinic, including a Clinical Director, Program Director, Staff Dentist, and Executive Director. Essential Functions • Perform dental procedures to ensure the highest quality of care for our patients. • Provide clinical guidance to the dental team to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and standards of care. • Develop and maintain relationships with community partners and stakeholders to promote dental health and wellness. • Collaborate with other healthcare providers to ensure integrated and coordinated care for our patients. • Participate in the recruitment, hiring, and training of dental staff and volunteer dentists. • Examine individuals requesting dental care, diagnoses their dental/oral conditions, prescribes and carries out appropriate dental/oral treatment, or refers individuals for specialty consultation or treatment in conformance with approved clinical protocols and guidelines. • Educate individuals in the nature of oral health related conditions and in the general promotion of oral health related disease prevention. • Assist in the provision of health education to the community with the Program & Outreach team. • Provide consultation to the Executive Director and the Board of Directors regarding dental and oral health issues. • As agreed upon by the Board of Directors, the Dentist may perform other related and/or necessary tasks to achieve organizational and programmatic goals and objectives. Qualifications • Excellent clinical skills and knowledge of current dental practices and procedures. • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with patients, staff, and community partners. • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and standards of care for dental services. • Commitment to providing high-quality, patient-centered care in a culturally sensitive and inclusive environment. Licensure and Credentials • Unrestricted license to practice dentistry in the State of North Carolina • Current CPR (BLS) certifications • North Carolina DEA registrations
