Dental Assistant The office is seeking a competent dental assistant who will make the dentist’s office more efficient and pleasant for patients. Applicants should have excellent customer service. Dental assistants should be well-organized with great attention to detail and must be able to follow instructions and respect dental office regulations. Candidate should be skilled in providing direct or indirect patient care and able to make office procedures as smooth as possible. This office works from Monday to Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a lunch break from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. RESPOSIBILITIES Welcome customers in the dental office Prepare customers for treatments or checkups ensuring their comfort Perform prophylaxis Update and maintain accurate patient records in Dentrix Select and set up instruments, equipment and materials needed in operatory Sterilize instruments according to regulations Assist the dentist through 4-handed dentistry Undertake lab tasks as instructed Provide oral hygiene care instructions Keep the dental room clean and well-stocked SKILLS Proven experience as dental assistant or new graduate with dental assistant certification from an accredited institution Discretion/confidentiality Dental x-ray certification is a must Knowledge of dental instruments and sterilization methods Understanding of health & safety regulations Information collection and management Ability to perform regulated non-surgical tasks Good computer skills Team work Excellent communication and people skills Attention to detail Well-organized and reliable High school diploma; graduating from dental assistant school and/or two years experience Additional certification or training is an asset (e.g. EFDA)
