Description

Small general dentist office seeks dental assistant with experience. Position summary We are seeking a reliable, detail-oriented, and compassionate Dental Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will be a vital member of our clinical and administrative staff, supporting our dentists and ensuring a smooth and pleasant experience for our patients. Responsibilities Clinical assistance: Prepare treatment rooms and sterilize instruments according to proper infection control and OSHA guidelines. Anticipate and assist the dentist with a variety of procedures, including restorative, surgical, and cosmetic treatments. Ensure patient comfort by preparing them for procedures, explaining treatments, and addressing any concerns. Perform dental radiographs (X-rays) and process images. Take and record patient vitals, medical history, and dental records. Instruct patients on oral hygiene, plaque control, and postoperative care. Prepare materials for dental impressions, temporary crowns, and other lab tasks. Provide suction, pass instruments, and use other equipment to keep the patient's mouth dry during procedures. Administrative duties: Schedule patient appointments and manage the patient recall system. Maintain accurate and confidential patient records. Answer phones, respond to emails, and greet patients warmly upon arrival. Order and manage dental supplies and other office inventory. Assist with billing, insurance forms, and patient payments. Required skills and qualifications Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Experience: 6 months of chairside assisting required. Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication, listening, and customer service skills. Organizational Skills: Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities. Technical Skills: Proficiency in dental procedures, radiology, and maintaining a sterile environment. Software Skills: Experience using dental practice management software. Professionalism: Consistently professional appearance and attitude. Physical demands Ability to stand and sit for extended periods. Good dexterity and manual skills for working in a tight space with precision instruments. Ability to wear protective equipment (e.g., masks, gloves, safety glasses) throughout the workday.
