Shroyer and Moore Oral Surgery and Dental Implants is currently seeking a detail-oriented Surgical Assistant to join our team. We are located at 2712 Matlock Road in Arlington, TX 76015. In this full-time role, you will support our oral surgeons ensuring efficient workflow and delivering exceptional patient care throughout the surgical process. The ideal candidate will be passionate about patient comfort and safety, with strong technical skills and a collaborative spirit. Major Responsibilities: Preoperative Duties – o Set up the operatory with necessary tools, supplies, and medications. o Review and update patient medical histories, allergies, and preoperative instructions. o Provide preoperative patient education and answer questions regarding surgical procedures. Intraoperative Duties – o Assist the surgeon during procedures by handling instruments, retracting tissues, and ensuring clear visibility. o Assist in administering anesthesia under the supervision of the surgeon o Monitor and support patient vital signs as directed by the surgical team. o Manage suction and irrigation to maintain a clean surgical field. o Maintain compliance with infection control and safety protocols throughout the procedure. Postoperative Duties - o Assist in patient recovery and monitor post-anesthesia conditions. o Provide postoperative care instructions and support o Clean and restock the surgical suite for subsequent procedures. o Ensure proper disposal of biohazardous materials and adherence to safety regulations. o Address patient questions and concerns with empathy and professionalism. Radiography – o Take and process dental radiographs as required o Adhere to safety protocols when operating radiographic equipment to minimize exposure. Qualifications: • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of a dental assisting or surgical technology program preferred. • Certification: Current CPR/BLS certification required; DAANCE certification is a plus. • Experience: Minimum of 1 year in a surgical or dental assisting role, preferably in oral & maxillofacial surgery. • Technical Skills: Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems, radiography (CBCT, panoramic X-rays), and surgical instrument handling. • Soft Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, ability to multitask, and a strong commitment to patient care and confidentiality.
