About the Role
We are seeking a reliable, high-energy, and detail-oriented Orthodontic Dental Assistant local to the Kingwood area to join our growing clinical team. In this role, you will work directly with our orthodontist to deliver exceptional care and create confident, beautiful smiles for patients of all ages.
What You'll Do
- Assist the Orthodontist during patient examinations, bonding, debonding, and emergency comfort appointments
- Safely place and remove archwires, change orthodontic modules, fit bands, and assist with brackets under direct clinical supervision
- Take precise diagnostic records, including digital intraoral scans, traditional alginate impressions, extraoral/intraoral photography, and digital X-rays
- Instruct patients and families on proper oral hygiene, appliance compliance, elastics wear, and retainer care
- Disinfect treatment rooms and sterilize orthodontic instruments in accordance with OSHA, HIPAA, and state infection control guidelines
- Support basic lab tasks such as pouring stone models, trimming retainers, or preparing appliances
- Accurate and timely entering of clinical treatment notes into digital patient practice management charts
What You'll Bring
Required
- Active Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) license or state equivalent certification
- Current X-ray/Radiology certification and active CPR/BLS certification
- Excellent verbal communication, a patient-focused attitude, and comfort working extensively with children and teenagers
Preferred
- Minimum 1-2 years of specific orthodontic assisting experience
- Familiarity with digital dental scanners and practice management software (such as TOPS, Dolphin, Ortho2, or Cloud 9)
