Job Description

About the Practice

Dr. Pechter has been in practice at this location since 1981. We are a small fee for service periodontal specialty practice, performing all phases of periodontal therapy and dental implant surgery. Although we assist patients with insurance claims, we are not in network with any HMO programs. This policy tends to attract patients and referring doctors, who place a high priority on dental health and quality of care. Dr. Pechter keeps a very relaxed schedule, allowing ample time between patients to keep things running smoothly, without undue stress. We strive to maintain a calm and controlled office environment to ease patient anxieties. In presenting treatment options, we always place the patient's best interest over all other considerations. Our practice consists of the doctor, front desk office manager, one chairside assistant, and two part time hygienists. Employees generally stay with us for many years. Our front desk manager is retiring, and we have promoted our current chairside assistant to that position. She will be able to help our new assistant in learning our procedures, computer entries, and any other responsibilities of the job. Stuart Pechter, D.M.D.

About the Role

The chairside assistant works closely with Dr. Pechter. The assistant greets and seats patients, preparing them to see the doctor. For initial patients, the assistant records notes in the patient chart as the doctor performs the examination, and enters periodontal charting data into a computerized charting program. For surgical patients, the assistant hands instruments to the doctor as therapy is being performed, while also providing hi-speed suction and retraction as needed. We work four days per week, with Wednesdays and weekends off. This allows more time for all to attend to other home and family responsibilities. Only working two consecutive days before a break, is a very relaxing work schedule.
