About the Role
Part-Time Orthodontic Assistant – Experienced RDA Preferred
Senties Family Orthodontics | West San Antonio, TX
WHO WE ARE
Senties Family Orthodontics is a growing, independently owned orthodontic practice serving families in West San Antonio. Our mission is to provide exceptional orthodontic care while helping our patients improve their health, confidence, and quality of life.
We believe that an outstanding practice begins with an outstanding team. We are committed to building a workplace where excellence, teamwork, mutual respect, and professional growth are valued, and where every team member can take pride in the care we provide.
WHO WE SEEK
We are looking for a motivated, dependable, and experienced part-time orthodontic assistant to join our team.
The position currently consists of six (6) scheduled clinical days per month, with opportunities for additional hours as needed. Responsibilities for covering occasional orthodontic emergencies and comfort appointments on non-clinic days are shared among members of our team, with coverage coordinated according to staff availability and office needs.
As our practice continues to grow, this position may offer additional working days and potentially transition into a full-time role.
Our ideal candidate is confident in the clinical setting, takes initiative, works efficiently both independently and as part of a team, and genuinely enjoys interacting with patients and their families.
CLINICAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist the orthodontist with chairside procedures and provide attentive, compassionate patient care.
Obtain clinical records, including intraoral and facial photographs, digital radiographs, alginate impressions, and intraoral scans.
Prepare treatment areas, organize instruments, and maintain efficient patient flow.
Perform instrument processing and sterilization, including operation of ultrasonic cleaners, steam autoclaves (Midmark M11 and Statim), and other sterilization equipment.
Assist with laboratory procedures, including pouring and trimming models, fabricating Essix appliances and retainers, and other routine laboratory tasks.
Monitor, organize, and restock clinical supplies and materials.
Maintain accurate clinical records and follow established infection-control and safety protocols.
Share responsibility with other team members for occasional orthodontic emergency and comfort appointments on non-clinic days.
Perform other delegated clinical duties, consistent with Texas requirements for dental assistant supervision.
ADDITIONAL OPPORTUNITIES
Because we are a growing practice, we value team members who are versatile, willing to learn, and eager to contribute beyond their primary responsibilities.
Experience with dental front-office responsibilities is a significant plus. All team members receive cross-training in selected administrative duties so they can assist one another when needed.
These duties may include welcoming patients, scheduling appointments, answering phones, assisting with patient communications, managing incoming mail and shipments, and supporting community outreach and office marketing initiatives.
QUALIFICATIONS
Previous chairside orthodontic experience is strongly preferred. Candidates should have current Texas dental assistant radiology authorization, current BLS certification, and the clinical skills needed to perform assigned responsibilities safely and efficiently.
We particularly value candidates who demonstrate excellent communication skills, attention to detail, reliability, adaptability, professionalism, and a positive, team-oriented attitude.
Experience with intraoral scanners, digital imaging, orthodontic laboratory procedures, and dental practice management software is desirable.
COMPENSATION AND SCHEDULE
Position: Part-time
Schedule: Six clinical days per month, with occasional additional hours as needed. On-call coverage for orthodontic emergencies and comfort appointments is shared among team members and coordinated according to availability and office needs.
Compensation: Competitive hourly compensation based on experience, qualifications, and versatility. Starting at $20/hr.
Growth opportunities: Possibility of additional working days and a future full-time position as the practice expands.
