About the Role
32 Ivory Lane Dental & Orthodontics is seeking a skilled, patient-centric Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) to deliver preventive and therapeutic oral health care across our general dental and orthodontic patient populations. In this dual-specialty environment, the Dental Hygienist plays a vital role in routine preventive care, advanced periodontal therapy, and targeted hygiene maintenance for patients undergoing active orthodontic treatment (fixed brackets and clear aligners). The ideal candidate combines high clinical standards with strong patient education skills to build trust, improve compliance, and support comprehensive treatment acceptance.
What You'll Do
- Conduct comprehensive oral evaluations and imaging: Review and update medical histories, capture diagnostic digital X-rays or intraoral photos, screen for oral cancer, and record periodontal probing depths to monitor gum health.
- Perform clinical debridement and prophylaxis: Remove plaque, calculus, and stain using ultrasonic scalers and hand instruments—tailoring cleanings for routine wellness visits, periodontal maintenance, and patients navigating orthodontic brackets, wires, and aligner attachments.
- Deliver targeted patient home-care education: Instruct patients on personalized oral hygiene techniques, demonstrating tools like floss threaders, interdental brushes, and water flossers to prevent gingivitis, demineralization, and white spot lesions during orthodontic treatment.
- Manage operatory turnover, sterilization, and clinical charting: Disinfect operatories between visits, sterilize instruments according to OSHA and CDC infection control protocols, and document findings, probe depths, and completed treatments accurately in the practice's electronic dental records (EDR).
