JOB TITLE: Dental Hygienist
REPORTS TO: Dental Director
The following statements reflect the general duties, responsibilities and competencies considered necessary to perform the essential functions of the job and should not be considered as a detailed description of all the work requirements of this position.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform oral inspections and examinations
Order and take dental x-rays
Perform supra and subgingival scaling
Place temporary restorations and recement crowns
Remove structures
Perform oral prophylaxis and polishing
Assist in teaching dental employees relating to in-service programs and training
Participate in dental health education, including preventative care, and nutrition
Assist in the planning and development of programs for oral preventative care and coordinate the dental treatment for patients or clients of community agencies
Assist in oral health education activities at community agencies
Participate in community oral health screening activities
Assist in the maintenance of dental supplies
Perform other duties as assigned or when necessary
QUALIFICATIONS:
Certificate or Diploma from accredited Dental Hygiene School or College required
New York State License required
Minimum of three years experience
Bilingual in English and Spanish/Creole preferred.
SALARY: Commensurate with experience
