*Job Overview*The purpose of the position is to perform advanced prophylactic and preventative dental procedures in the treatment of patients at the health center including those with related medical and dental problems, such as, diabetes, cardiac complications, severe caries, and periodontal disease.
*Duties:*
· Performs oral prophylactic and dental hygiene treatment to patients presenting a variety of abnormal conditions.
· Administers local anesthesia (if qualified) under the close supervision of the dentist.
· Performs additional procedures such as taking dental radiographs, records medical and dental histories, reviews patient’s dietary habits, administers caries prevention agents, desensitizes root surfaces, root planning, places temporary restorations, necessary coronal polishing, takes and pour impressions for study casts, removes sutures, and instructs the patients in home care therapy and proper diet as it relates to oral health.
· Participates in the development and implementation of Oral Health Education and disease prevention activities (community health) including Periodontal Disease, BBTD and Sealants,
· Plans, coordinates, and conducts preventive oral health programs for various patient groups such as diabetic, cancer, psychiatric, geriatric, alcoholic and physically handicapped patients.
· Develops and revises oral health instructional materials and education techniques for varied levels of the mental and physical capabilities of each patient group.
· Uses resources available within the clinic and materials acquired from research, professional dental associations, and schools of dental hygiene, develops and presents oral health lectures, demonstrations, and visual displays to patient groups and clinic personnel.
· Develops procedural instructions to be used by dental hygienist, dental assistants, dietitians, and nutritionists, and the nursing staff in the delivery of oral health care to patients throughout the clinic.
· Other duties as assigned
*Minimum Qualifications:*
· Graduation from an accredited dental hygiene program in the United States.
· Must possess a valid Dental Hygienist license in Nevada.
· Prefer two years of work experience.
· Ability to pass a background and drug/alcohol test.
· Indian Preference applies.

We are a fun, upbeat private dental practice located in South Reno who is seeking a part-time registered dental hygienist to join our team.Candidate must have excellent communication skills, sense of urgency, willingness to work as part of a team, great rapport with patients as well as other staff members and maintain a professional appearance.
Position requires valid Nevada license, local anesthetic certification and CPR card. Knowledge of Dentrix, Dexis and laser certification is a plus.
Responsibilities - Perform adult and child prophys, scaling/root planning, assist doctor with periodic exams with bitewings or full mouth x-rays, use of intra-oral camera, patient education on the use of hygiene aids and the value of the services we provide. As part of our office team mentality, hygienists will also maintain a clean and organized operatory, sharpen and maintain instruments, as well as help with instrument processing and sterilization and operatory turn-over.
Position is currently part time, 3 days a week with the option to choose your days between Mon – Thurs. The goal of this position is to become full time in the foreseeable future.
