Hygienist Purpose: The purpose of the Hygienist position is to efficiently, effectively and comfortably deliver the highest quality periodontal care to each patient. This to ensure patients'continued optimal oral health, satisfaction and practice profitability. I. Clinical Tasks a. b. c. d. e. f. Clean, stock and prepare treatment rooms prior to each appointment. Maintain a pleasant and non-threatening environment in each treatment room. Sterilize equipment and treatment rooms, according to OSHA standards, after each procedure. Greet and seat patients within seven minutes of appointment time. Alert Front Desk team members if you are running behind. Perform prophylaxis, debridement, scaling and root planning and any other non surgical periodontal therapy diagnosed by Dr. Franzetti.. Pre-frame possibility for treatment prior to periodic exam. Assist Dr F during the exam and support treatment recommendations. Conduct appropriate patient education including, but not limited to: Toothbrushing Proximal Brushes (Tepe) Nutrition Flossing Disclosing methods Refined sugar intake: SoftPicks Periodontal Health Soda, candy, chocolate g. Take and process diagnostic digital X-Rays. h. i. j. k. Take and process diagnostic digital intraoral impressions using the Trios Scanner. Take and process diagnostic digital Cone Beam Computerized Tomography (CBCT) scans Complete daily checklist for opening and closing the treatment rooms. Complete daily, weekly and monthly maintenance of equipment according the maintenance schedule and guidelines. II. Administrative Tasks a. Review and update medical and health history forms for each patient. b. Keep patient records current by charting changes in health, medications , periodontal information and restorative needs as per Dr. Franzetti, and services rendered on today’s appointment. II. Use effective verbal skills to motivate patients to accept treatment diagnosed by Dr.Franzetti Debrief the patient about what occurred during the appointment, what they could expect as a result of treatment and what the next steps in treatment will be. Effectively hand-off the patient to team members using the “Passing The Patient” formula. (to be reviewed in Staff Meetings) f. g. h. Prepare for and participate in daily huddle by providing information regarding “today’s schedule”, doctor exams, outstanding treatment and marketing information.
