*Responsibilities*
* Perform dental prophylaxis, including cleaning, scaling, and polishing teeth to prevent oral disease.
* Conduct patient assessments by taking vital signs and medical histories to inform treatment plans.
* Assist with medical imaging procedures such as X-rays, ensuring proper technique and patient safety.
* Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions.
* Document treatment procedures accurately in electronic health records (EHR) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
* Support chairside assisting during various dental procedures with aseptic technique and infection control protocols.
* Review medical records for completeness and accuracy prior to procedures.
* Maintain a sterile environment following infection control standards and OSHA guidelines.
* Collaborate with dentists on patient care plans, including documentation review and medical coding when necessary.
* Provide pediatric dental care when required, demonstrating patience and specialized knowledge in pediatric dentistry.
*Requirements*
* Valid state licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist.
* Proven experience working in general dentistry or dental clinics; experience in pediatric dentistry is a plus.
* Proficiency with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
* Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques.
* Understanding and training in diode laser practices is a plus.
* Ability to perform vital signs measurement, medical imaging, and patient assessment accurately.
* Familiarity with medical coding, documentation review, HIPAA compliance, and medical terminology.
* Excellent patient care skills with the ability to communicate effectively across diverse patient populations including pediatrics.
* Experience with four-handed dentistry and chairside assisting preferred but not required.
