Under the supervision of a dentist, as a Dental Assistant, you will perform medical and administrative skills to support patients and dental services staff. Your primary duties will include assisting with assessments and treatments, performing diagnostic radiographs, performing administrative or clerical duties, and maintaining examination areas.

This position is eligible for a $500 Sign-On Bonus.
Responsibilities:
Assists with performing assessments and treatments.
Performs diagnostic radiographs.
Obtains alginate impressions for diagnostic and/or intra-oral appliances.
Performs administrative or clerical duties as assigned.
Maintains dental equipment and medical supplies, including sterilizing instruments, reordering, stocking, cleaning and troubleshooting.
Maintains examination areas.
Works in clinical and operating room settings as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
Education:
High School Diploma or GED required.
Knowledge and understanding of the dental management of medically compromised patients to include cardiology, oncology, hematology and infectious disease patients.
Certifications:
Must be state certified as a Dental Assistant Radiographer.
Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) certification by the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB) must be obtained within one year of employment OR must hold a certification as a Certified Ohio Dental Assistant (CODA) administered by the Ohio Commission on Dental Assistant Certification (OCDAC).
Specific certification required is dependent on assigned area.
Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
Complexity of Work:
Must have the ability to be compassionate to patients who are under physical or emotional stress.
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
Must be able to work in a stressful and fast paced environment.
Work Experience:
Two years of dental assisting experience.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to ambulate patients for x rays and to dental chair.
Dexterity sufficient to operate CRT/PC and other office equipment.
Ability to work while standing the majority of work day.
Requires frequent data entry, lifting patients, pushing/pulling over 75 pounds, sitting, squatting, standing and walking.
Must possess manual dexterity to pass instrumentation, hand mix impression material and stone / plaster, use applicator gun to express impression gun, trimming casts as well as operate PC.
Personal Protective Equipment:
Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
