Orthodontic Dental AssistantDavid and AssociatesJacksonville, FL 32223 Job Summary: As an Orthodontic Dental Assistant, you will be surrounded and supported by a team of amazing people, all wanting you to succeed! Under the supervision of a Dentist, you will support both patients and coworkers by reviewing patient charts prior to exams or procedures, preparing equipment, readying patients for procedures, and aiding the Dentist throughout the entirety of the procedure. You will make notes about performed procedures, progress, recommendations, and other subjects to help your team with treatment coordination and billing. Working with x-rays is common, as is processing items such as removable dental appliances and casts or impressions.

Duties/Responsibilities:
Cultivate a welcoming environment for patients from start to the end of their dental journey
Prepare patients for treatment and sustain their comfort during their visit
Obtain dental health history
Provide appropriate education on treatment, postoperative needs, and general oral health care
Prepare treatment room with strict adherence to safety protocols, following OSHA and CDC recommendations
Provide superior chairside assistance to supported dentists during a wide variety of procedures in accordance with the state dental practice act
Pre-appointment patient record review and corrections
Assemble instrumentation by sterilizing and disinfecting instruments and equipment, preparing trays of instruments for procedures, and preparing materials for impressions and restorations
Take dental x rays; perform diagnostic assessments as directed by a dentist
Accurately enter computer/written records/orders and scheduling into Company software and forms
Use all equipment in accordance with manufacturer recommendations and ensure that they are maintained and in good working order
Post-appointment patient communications
Observe patient confidentiality at all times
Partner with the team to implement treatment plans and coordinate workflow as needed, including scheduling, and confirming appointments, receiving patients
Liaise with reception to ensure smooth patient communications and transfer of records
Ensure adequate stocks of materials and other items within the treatment rooms
Be familiar and comply with all Health and Safety rules and guidance, as well as Company rules and code of conduct
Attend and participate in Company meetings and training
Assist in keeping the clinic clean, including common areas of the clinic, office, and staff room(s)
Keep the clinical equipment, working surfaces, instruments, and other areas clean, tidy and sterile
Perform other duties as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities:
Self-starter mentality with a relentless focus on best-in-class patient care
Working knowledge of dental procedures, technology, and terminology
Experience digital scanner, digital x-rays, and electronic medical record systems
Self-ligating bracket knowledge is a MUST

Education and Experience:
3+ years of experience in orthodontic assistance?
Dental assisting school certification
X-ray certification
CPR certification
Experience working in a fast-paced and customer-centric environment
Preferred Experience??
5+ years of experience working in an orthodontic capacity?
EagleSoft or other dental software experience?
Experience with self-ligating brackets
Familiar with Prime or iTero scanners
Training in emergency procedures
Infection control

Working Conditions:
Work Monday and Friday with one Saturday per month
Can be full time if you have general dentistry experience
Dental assistants work in a well-lighted, clean environment

Work area is usually near the dental chair to allow for arranging instruments, materials, and medication and handing them to the dentist when needed
