Description
We are looking for a MOTIVATED certified dental assistant with surgery experience ( 2 year experience required) Responsible for the day-to-day operations of assisting the surgeon in the clinical/surgical treatment of patients. BENEFITS After 1 year - 401K with 3% automatic contribution 2 week vacation 1 week medical leave KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Patient Management Greet patients with a smile when they sign in and monitor arrival time Take vital signs and weight for every patient and blood glucose as required Take x-rays, cone beam CT scan, pictures, etc. as required for patient diagnosis and treatment Anticipate and assist surgeon Complete Intra-Oral scans as needed for patient Obtain and review the patient health history according to office protocol and provide summary to the surgeon (review medication list, discuss main complaint) Accompany doctor into the consultation room for patient evaluation. Take notes Give verbal and written pre and post operatory instructions Discharge patients Enter all surgical notes to EMR/DSN Return clinical phone calls to patients Rotate taking after-hours calls with other staff members Surgical Suite/Treatment Room Management and Sterilization Set up treatment rooms for surgical and office procedures prior to appointment Make sure all the equipment needed for surgeries is working and necessary instruments are sterile and properly set up in the room Fabricate pre-surgical stents or Provisionals as needed prior to the surgery Make initial impressions as necessary Prepared the patient for surgery, vital signs, Oxygen, mark areas Assist surgeon during surgery including but not limited to retraction, suction, passing instruments, helping the doctor with IV placement and IV sedation Fabricate nightguards Draw and label medications for IV sedation Clean and disinfect treatment rooms according to OSHA regulations Sterilize all instruments and handpieces according to OSHA regulations Maintain proper sterilization records Prepare surgical trays Implement preventive maintenance/cleaning schedule for dental equipment Maintain dental office emergency kits and nitrous and oxygen tanks Know the basics about control medications used in surgery and emergency protocols Follow laboratory procedures according to office protocol Records Management Securely store and handle patient records in compliance with state and federal requirements, including the HIPAA privacy and security regulations Accurately file patient information Review patient charts and radiographs for next day’s appointments, make sure notes and pictures have been entered in the patient’s chart Request medical records, medical release or specific instructions, as needed Inventory Management Monitor inventory and order approved dental, surgical and lab supplies Receive supplies Ensure that treatment and consult rooms are always stocked Order medications as needed Office Participation Help in other areas of the office when necessary (i.e., answering phones, scheduling appointments) Be an active participant in team meetings Promote team concept by interacting with others in the office QUALIFICATIONS Education/Experience High school diploma or equivalent Graduate of accredited dental assisting program and dental assisting experience preferred Coursework in dental instruments and procedures Compliance with state dental practice requirements (e.g., x-ray requirements, OSHA training) Computer skills Commitment to CE for career development Interpersonal Good interpersonal skills to maintain effective rapport with patients, dentists, and other staff members Effective verbal skills to communicate with patients and staff Job Types: Full-time, Part-time Benefits: 401(k) Paid time off Application Question(s): What type of implant system brands are you familiar with?
