Job Description
About the Role
Lead Administrator / Practice Operations Manager – Dental Specialty Practice
Private Specialty Practice | Houston, TX
Are you an exceptional practice leader who loves creating order, building great teams, and making a business run beautifully?
We are a private, periodontal specialty practice led by a single doctor with an established reputation for exceptional clinical care, patient experience, and referring-doctor relationships.
We are looking for a Practice Operations Manager / Lead Administrator who wants to take ownership of the administrative and operational side of the practice and play an important role in our next stage of growth.
This is not simply a front-office management position.
Our doctor is intentionally looking for the right leader to take over the day-to-day administrative responsibilities of the practice so she can focus more of her time on patient care, clinical leadership, referring relationships, and growing the practice.
The Opportunity
You will become the operational leader of the practice.
You will be responsible for making sure the office, team, patient experience, systems, and administrative functions operate at a high level every day.
As the practice grows and additional doctors are eventually added, you will have the opportunity to grow with it.
What You Will Own
* Daily practice operations and workflow
* Team leadership, accountability, scheduling, and performance
* Patient experience and service recovery
* Scheduling efficiency, production, and practice flow
* Insurance, billing, collections, and administrative financial performance
* Hiring, onboarding, training, and team development
* Payroll and timekeeping coordination
* Supplies, vendors, and office systems
* Administrative technology and practice-management systems
* Tracking key practice metrics and identifying opportunities for improvement
* Communication between the clinical and administrative teams
* Anticipating problems and solving them before they reach the doctor
* Maintaining a professional, organized, positive practice culture
* Helping build the infrastructure necessary for future practice growth
The Kind of Leader We Want
We are looking for someone who is:
Proactive. You see what needs to be done and do it.
Accountable. You take ownership rather than making excuses.
Organized. Details matter, and you don’t need someone constantly checking behind you.
A strong communicator. You can communicate clearly with patients, employees, doctors, vendors, and referring offices.
Emotionally intelligent. You know how to lead people, navigate difficult situations, and maintain professionalism under pressure.
A problem solver. When something goes wrong, your first response is, “Here’s how we’re going to fix it.”
A team builder. You know how to set expectations, coach people, recognize great performance, and hold people accountable.
Business-minded. You understand that a successful practice requires both exceptional patient care and strong operational performance.
This Position Is a Great Fit If…
You have been a successful dental office manager or practice administrator and are ready for more ownership and leadership.
You enjoy building systems instead of constantly putting out fires.
You want to work directly with a doctor who values strong leadership and is willing to give the right person significant responsibility.
And most importantly, you want to be the person the doctor can trust to say:
“I’ve got it.”
Qualifications
* Dental practice management/administrative experience strongly preferred
* Experience leading a team
* Strong knowledge of dental practice operations
* Excellent organizational and communication skills
* High emotional intelligence
* Strong attention to detail
* Ability to manage competing priorities
* Comfortable with accountability, metrics, and performance expectations
* Professional demeanor and excellent patient-service skills
* Ability to work independently and make sound decisions
* Experience in a periodontal, oral surgery, orthodontic, or other dental specialty practice is a plus
Why Join Us?
This is an opportunity to become a key leader in a growing private specialty practice, rather than simply filling a management position.
You will have the autonomy and responsibility to improve how the practice operates, develop the team, implement systems, and help shape the future of the organization.
If you are the person who naturally takes ownership, creates structure, and makes everyone around you better, we want to meet you.
Compensation: Competitive and commensurate with experience and leadership ability.
Location: Houston, TX
