About the Role
The Registered Dental Hygienist provides preventive and therapeutic dental care to patients, promotes oral health, and supports the dentist in delivering high-quality dental services. The hygienist educates patients on proper oral hygiene, performs periodontal assessments, and maintains accurate patient records in accordance with state regulations and office protocols.
What You'll Do
- Review medical and dental histories and update patient records. Perform oral health assessments and periodontal evaluations. Take and review dental radiographs as permitted by state regulations and office protocols. Perform dental prophylaxis, periodontal maintenance, and scaling and root planing as indicated. Apply fluoride treatments, sealants, and other preventive agents as appropriate. Provide patient education on brushing, flossing, nutrition, and periodontal health. Identify and document oral health concerns and communicate findings to the dentist. Maintain accurate clinical notes, periodontal charting, and treatment documentation. Follow infection control, sterilization, and OSHA safety procedures. Maintain operatory cleanliness and prepare instruments and equipment. Assist with treatment planning, recall scheduling, and patient follow-up. Communicate professionally with patients and the dental team. Follow HIPAA privacy requirements and applicable dental practice regulations.
