Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate full-time Oral Surgery Assistant to join our team. As an Oral Surgery Assistant, you will work closely with our oral surgeons to provide exceptional patient care and support throughout various surgical procedures. Your role will be crucial in ensuring the smooth operation of our oral surgery practice and delivering a positive experience for our patients.
Responsibilities:
• Assist oral surgeons during surgical procedures, including but not limited to extractions, dental implants, and biopsies.
• Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and equipment.
• Sterilize and maintain surgical instruments and equipment according to infection control guidelines.
• Educate patients on pre and post-operative care instructions.
• Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) as needed.
• Record patient medical histories and vital signs accurately.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations.
• Provide chair-side assistance to oral surgeons during examinations and treatments.
• Manage inventory and order supplies as needed.
• Communicate effectively with patients, ensuring they are comfortable and informed throughout their surgical experience.
Requirements:
• High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an accredited dental assisting program preferred.
• Certification as a Dental Assistant (CDA) or Oral Surgery Assistant (OSA) preferred.
• Previous experience in oral surgery or as a Dental Assistant. (1 year)
• Knowledge of dental terminology, procedures, and instruments.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• CPR certification (must be current).
• Ability to maintain composure under pressure and handle difficult situations with professionalism and empathy.
• Must be able to read and write in English.
• Bilingual English and Spanish is a plus.
