Requirements
- Must be a Registered Dental Hygienist with the State of WA
- Must hold a current and valid health care provider basic life support (BLS) certification
- Must have at least 1 year of experience working as a dental hygienist
- Must be flexible and adaptable in the work place. Patients, procedures, tasks and supplies can change rapidly in a dental office. We need an RDH who is understanding of these changes and willing/able to adjust to these changes as they occur
- Must be dependable. We need to be able to rely on all members of our team, to know that they will be at work, on time, and ready to work
Skills
- Proven experience as dental hygienist
- Understanding of sterilization procedures and protocols
- Experience with digital scanning, dental laser therapy, myofunctional therapy, airway screening/treatment and Invisalign a plus
- Strong computer skills, experience with Open Dental/Dexis Imaging a plus
- Excellent communication and people skills
- Eagerness to learn new procedures and accept constructive feedback
- Attention to detail and a willingness to ask questions to ensure patient care is provided with the highest quality, every time
Responsibilities
- Set up and tear down room as needed
- Help maintain sterilization area and assist other team members with room turnover and sterilization, as needed
- Sterilize instruments according to regulations
- Take IOC photos
- Evaluate gingival health and health of all oral tissue
- Perform oral cancer screenings
- Administer nitrous oxide and oxygen
- Classify patient’s periodontal condition
- Scale, polish and apply fluoride
- Periodontal soft tissue curettage
- Root planning and use of ultrasonic instrumentation
- Periodontal probing and charting of oral conditions
- Administration of nitrous oxide and local anesthetic
- Remove cement excess from subgingival surfaces of the tooth
- Provide oral hygiene and homecare instructions
- Reflect and reinforce Dr. Gressell’s treatment philosophy
