Responsibilities and Duties (including but not limited to): Prepares the treatment room for the patient by adhering to prescribed procedures and protocols. Prepares the patient for dental hygiene treatment by welcoming, soothing, seating, and draping the patient. Presents treatment to patients Provides information to patients and employees by answering questions and requests. Maintains instrumentation for dental hygiene treatment by sharpening, sterilizing, and selecting instruments. Selects materials and equipment for dental hygiene visit by evaluating patient’s oral health. Completes dental prophylaxis by cleaning deposits and stains from teeth and from beneath gum margins. Detects disease by completing oral cancer screening; feeling and visually examining gums, using probes to locate periodontal disease and to assess levels of bone loss, attachment loss & recession, exposing radiographic series and necessary intraoral imaging. Arrests dental decay by applying fluorides and other cavity- preventing agents. Cleans and polishes removable appliances. Removes cement from crowns and bridges if needed. Administers local anesthetic agents. Helps the team manage dental and medical emergencies by maintaining CPR certification, emergency drugs and oxygen supply, directory of emergency numbers and adhering to the RTD Emergency SOP & Safety Plan. Educates patients by giving oral hygiene and plaque control instructions, postoperative instructionist. Documents dental hygiene services by recording vital signs, medical & dental histories and documenting in patient records. Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential. Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations. Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols. Ensures operation of dental equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements, following manufacturer’s instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, and calling for repairs, maintaining equipment inventories, and evaluating new equipment and techniques. Monitors dental hygiene supply inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level and anticipates needed supplies. Conserves dental resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results. Our busy, two doctor office is looking for an exceptional RDH (Registered Dental Hygienist) to add to our well trained team. We work in a beautiful, recently renovated office with all new equipment and top of the line instruments. We are open to hiring the right person for a part-time position for either two or three days per week. We are looking for candidates with experience in dental hygiene, great clinical skills, the ability to recognize and explain needed dental procedures, and the capability to work effectively as a team member. Excellent candidates would possess good time management skills, proficient computer and technology skills, and be an effective communicator with patients, doctors, and other team members.Our perfect candidate would be able to administer local anesthetic and nitrous oxide, place sealants, properly diagnose and treat periodontal disease, make detailed and comprehensive clinical notes, and take excellent diagnostic digital x-rays. We would like the candidate to be experienced in discussing necessary treatment, including but not limited to: fillings, crown and bridge, bracket and wire ortho as well as Invisalign, sleep apnea, whitening with trays and Zoom, as well as endodontic and implant procedures. Experience working with Eaglesoft and iTero scanners is a plus, but not required. Laser certification would be excellent too!

The Dental Hygienist cleans teeth and examines oral areas, head, and neck for signs of oral disease. Educates patients on oral hygiene, takes x-rays, applies fluoride or sealants.
*Essential Duties and Responsibilities*
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
* Cleaning calcareous deposits, accretions, and stains from teeth and beneath margins of gums, using dental instruments
* Feeling and visually examining gums for sores and signs of disease
* Charting conditions of decay and disease for diagnosis and treatment by dentist
* Oral Cancer Screening
* Review patient’s medical history, record vital signs, and discuss progress from the previous recare visit
* Updates continuing care recommendations as directed by doctor
* Recommends the need for quality restorative dentistry when applicable
* Counsels patients on diet, tobacco cessation, and diabetic control for less disease and better general health
* Educates patients on plaque control, gum disease, and explains prevention to patients and parents of minors using appropriate terminology in an organized and professional manner utilizing models, diagrams, intra-oral photos, and supporting literature as necessary
* Instructs and recommends adjunctive aids such as electric toothbrush, dental floss, Waterpik, proxy brush, etc.
* Records and communicates the treatment rendered during each appointment and the treatment planned for the next visit including appointment length
* Applying fluorides and other cavity preventing agents to arrest dental decay
* Examining gums, using probes, to locating periodontal recessed gums and signs of gum disease
* Obtains quality diagnostic x-rays
* Providing clinical services and health education to improve and maintain oral health
* Removing excess cement from coronal surfaces of teeth
* Making impressions for study casts
* Administering local anesthetic agents
* Observes schedule and calls tardy patients
* Prepares for next day’s schedule
* Scheduling patients recall appointment
* Following up with missed recall appointments
* Following up with unscheduled SRP patients
* Making care calls post treatment
* Cleaning and sterilizing operatory as well as sterilizing instruments
* Prepares patients take home kits
* Maintains equipment, instruments, and supplies and report any new inventory requests (i.e. patient take home kit, operatory supplies, electric toothbrushes, etc.)
* Performing other duties as assigned
*Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)*
* Bachelor’s degree in health or related field; training and/or degree from an accredited school of Dental Hygiene
* Current Dental Hygienist license required; current CPR certification required; Local anesthesia certification
* Ability to examine, assess and document oral conditions through the use of clinical measurements, radiographs, and other assessment methods
* Ability to educate clients regarding oral health; ability to evaluate the dental hygiene plan of care, as well as the patient’s satisfaction with the plan
* Ability to implement non-surgical periodontal therapy
* Excellent interactive communication skills; excellent working knowledge of the English language
* Ability to maintain client confidentiality
* Ability to apply safety knowledge relevant to equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies
* Knowledge of healthcare regulations and preventative measures (HIPAA confidentiality, infection spread, etc.)
* Must be respectful of co-workers and be a team player
* Excellent customer service skills
* Excellent oral and written communication
* Ability to time management effectively
* Ability to coordinate well with manual dexterity and hand steadiness
* Ability to receive constructive criticism
