Advance your career in oral surgery in a role that allows you to observe, train, and participate with supervision in setting up for minor surgical procedures, assisting in minor procedures, instrument processing, room turnover, and other clinical duties as needed.
Here are some of the job duties you will perform:
Set up for non-sterile & sterile procedures (under supervision) with appropriate instruments, equipment, and supplies.
Assist surgeon during minor surgical procedures including suctioning, retracting, passing instruments, providing airway support.
Assist in onboarding and supporting Oral Surgery Assistant I.
Circulates on surgical procedures, completing necessary entries, paperwork, logs, etc.
Capture radiographs, take/pour dental impressions, capture intraoral digital scans, remove surgical splints, fit splints, remove sutures, place packs, etc.
Updates patient medications and allergies at each patient encounter
Participates in crash cart training to become familiar with emergency medications and supplies.
To be considered for this role, you need to have the following qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent
Completion of limited Dental Assisting program, OR 1-2 years experience in general dentistry/oral surgery practice (Highly Preferred)
Current BLS certification (Preferred)
Infection control training (Preferred)
Sterile processing certification/experience (Preferred)
Dental Radiography certification (Preferred)
Successful completion of approved nitrous oxide course (Preferred)
IV/Phlebotomy certification (Preferred)
Anesthesia-related continuing education (Preferred)

Responsibilities:
The dental hygienist is responsible for performing licensed hygiene procedures, educating patients, and management of the nonsurgical periodontal program as directed by the dentist.
Establish and maintain continued patient care relationships.
Verify/document patient health history and educate patients about oral hygiene/health/disease as well as procedures and services offered.
Perform clinical hygiene functions including, but not limited to: exposing/evaluating diagnostic x-rays, taking and recording blood pressure, adult/child prophylaxis, non-surgical periodontal therapy, and co-assessing possible restorative treatments with the doctor.
Determine needs and perform sealant placement, Arestin, and fluoride treatments as needed.
Qualifications:
Dental hygiene certification from accredited dental hygiene school.
Current hygiene license where employed.
Maintain annual OSHA, HIPAA, BLS and infection control training as required by law.
Experience with dental software.
