Job description Responsibilities: - Perform dental hygiene procedures, including cleaning, scaling, and polishing teeth - Take and develop dental x-rays - Conduct oral cancer screenings - Administer local anesthesia and nitrous oxide to patients as needed - Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques and provide personalized oral health care instructions - Assist the dentist during procedures by handing them instruments and ensuring patient comfort - Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records Skills: - Proficient in performing vital signs and patient assessments - Knowledge of medical coding for dental procedures - Familiarity with medical imaging techniques for dental diagnostics - Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations - Strong understanding of medical terminology related to dentistry - Experience working with electronic health record systems such as Epic or Eaglesoft - Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with patients - Knowledge of dental anatomy and oral health conditions Note: This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive.
