The Treatment Coordinator’s primary responsibility is to provide support and
assistance to the
Doctors, Hygienists, and Dental Assistants in the clinical areas of the office. In
doing so, the
Treatment Coordinator will be actively involved in communicating with the parent or
about the services being performed and the treatment recommended.
Depending on the size and the needs of a particular office, the Treatment
Coordinator will perform a variety of responsibilities and be cross-trained in the
• Clinical Assistance: work with the Doctor to enter recommended treatment plans
during patient exams and assist in entering clinical notes. The Treatment
will assist the Doctor, Hygienist, and Dental Assistant in preparing the patient’s
with the needed supplies and instruments. Cleaning the chairs and rooms following
treatment to prepare for the next patient. This includes taking the patient back
treatment, helping with the flow of the patients, assisting throughout the
accompanying the patient into the designated areas including consults with parent
guardian and front desk area for scheduling future appointments. The Treatment
Coordinator will maintain patient confidentiality through HIPAA compliance, as well
as adhere to all OSHA rules and regulations.
• Obtaining X-Rays: quality images can be taken on most patients, by comforting and
encouraging hesitant patients. Clinical Assistants that are x-ray certified will
any necessary periapical, bitewing, and panoramic x-rays for the appointment.
• Expanding Dental Education: the Treatment Coordinator must attend continuing
education classes and obtain any needed certificates.
• Sterilization: the Treatment Coordinator ensures the proper cleaning, sanitizing,
maintenance of all operatory equipment, instruments, chairs, and workstations based
on OSHA regulations and Company standards. The Treatment Coordinator will run
the sterilization area of the clinic to ensure all instruments are properly
available for continued hygiene and operatory treatment.
• Teamwork: understand how to work effectively within the organization- partnering
with the Practice Manager, Doctors, Hygienists, Dental Assistants, Front Desk
Coordinators, and other clinical assistants to maintain consistency and integrity
