Listed below is the Job Description for the RDA position. The Registered Dental Assistant supports the Mobile Treatment Division by delivering and helping to set up dental equipment, working with geriatric patients, serving as the onsite liaison, answering clinical questions, talking to patients about their treatment needs, helping patients get to the dental room, adjusts dentures and/or assist with denture relines and denture impressions, electronic charting, and acquire patient paperwork from patients onsite. On occasion, there may be a need to prepare treatment rooms for patients; pass instruments and materials; sterilization of instruments; take digital x-rays; and performing procedures in compliance with the dental practice acts. Experience Level 1 to 5 years Manages or Supervises Others No Travel Required Routine travel is required within the Austin and surrounding area, to meet the needs of customers in Healthcare settings. Overnight travel will be required 1- 3 times a month. Essential Duties As related to the description above, the Registered Dental Assistant : Prepares treatment room for patients by following prescribed procedures and protocols. Help sets-up equipment prior to the treatment day starting and helps takes down at the end of the day. Operates a company vehicle in coordination with the other dental assistant. Prepares patient for dental treatment by bring patient to dental room, welcoming, comforting, and draping patient. Provides information to patients and employees by answering questions and request Proficiency in denture adjustments, relines, and denture impressions Provides instrumentation by sterilizing and delivering dental instruments to treatment area; on occasion positioning instruments for dentist's access, and performing suctioning and passing instruments. Provides dental materials by selecting, mixing, and placing materials on instruments and in the patient's mouth. Provides diagnostic information by using digital radiographic images; pouring, trimming, and polishing study casts. Provides clinical knowledge to nursing home staff, patients, and family members while onsite Ensures efficacy of dental event by bringing patients to and from the dental room Present treatment onsite to patient and/or family if needed Helps dentist manage dental and medical emergencies by maintaining CPR certification, emergency drug and oxygen supply, and emergency telephone directory. Educates patients by giving oral hygiene, plaque control, and postoperative instructions. Documents dental care services by charting in patient records and electronic records Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential. Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations. Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols. Helps maintains dental supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies, and packing supplies needed for events. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies. Performs other duties as assigned Required Qualifications Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent. The Registered Dental Assistant also needs to be registered in the State of Texas, possess a current CPR certificate as well as a current radiology certificate. A minimum of one (1) year of hands-on dental experience is required. One (1) year experience in a geriatric or pediatric dental setting is highly preferred though six (6) months may be considered. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Working knowledge of electronic health record systems (Curve Hero, Dentrix, etc.) Demonstrated history of good judgment and strong problem-solving ability Close attention to detail and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced dynamic environment Responsible and caring ‘people-person’ with polished customer service skills Ability to work independently and without close supervision Excellent written and verbal communication skills Excellent problem-solving, communication, organizational, and teamwork skills Ability to operate standard office equipment and common software applications
