Requirements: * Education/Certifications: Must have a current and active Ohio Hygienist Licensure Must have Hepatitis B Vaccinations Records Current CPR * Minimum Experience: 0-2 years * Computer Skills: Computer knowledge, must be able to learn clinical software (i.e. Dental Vision) * Must have a high level of accuracy in data entry * Must be able to read, write, speak, and communicate effectively in the English language. * Must have excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills * Must have excellent listening skills * Able to effectively manage multiple priorities and adapt to change within a fast paced environment * Must possess a professional and friendly attitude. * Must have reliable transportation Basic Function: The primary function of the Registered Dental Hygienist is to perform high quality work in conjunction with maintaining individual patient base, managing own operatory, and providing patient education in relation to patient care goals of Hudec Dental Associates. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The following is a list of responsibilities associated with the Registered Dental Hygienist but is not exhaustive nor a complete, comprehensive list of the duties required and expected of the Registered Dental Hygienist; additional duties may be assigned as needed. o Maintains instrumentation for dental hygiene treatment by sharpening, sterilizing, and selecting instruments. o Selects materials and equipment for dental hygiene visit by evaluating patient's oral health. o Completes dental prophylaxis by cleaning deposits and stains from teeth and from beneath gum margins. o Detects disease by completing oral cancer screening; feeling and visually examining gums; using probes to locate periodontal disease and to assess levels of recession; taking and developing radiographic images and use of intra-oral camera expectation of xxx% on new patients and 50% on recall patients. o Arrests dental decay by applying fluorides and other cavity- preventing agents. o Prepares treatment room for patient by following prescribed procedures and protocols; o Prepares patient for dental treatment by welcoming, introducing one’s self, comforting, seating, and draping patient. This includes ensuring patients are greeted with a handshake and shown appreciation during entire visit. o Follow properly issued instructions/directions regarding patient flow and manage the flow of patients to schedule/maximize the doctor’s time if applicable. o Establishes and builds long-term patient relationships including but not limited to: emailing/calling all scheduled patients one week in advance to confirm appointments and emailing all new patients with a personal touch thank you for visiting note. o Provides information to patients and employees by answering questions, requests. o Educates patients by giving oral hygiene, plaque control, and postoperative instructions; prints prescribed prescriptions o Communicates to patients about current office promotions and programs; i.e. Share a Smile, Vivid, Care Credit o Promotes treatment such as sealants, STM programs, whitening/bleaching, oral cancer screenings and other products o Schedule 6 month recall appointments routinely o Conducts patient post-op calls for all periodontal patients o Documents and charges out dental care services by charting in patients’ records in Dental Vision software and maintain updated patient information. o Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential. o Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols including safe and clean working environments. o Ensures operation of dental equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; evaluating new equipment and techniques. o Informs Clinical Coordinator of hygiene and dental supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; verifying receipt of supplies o Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications o Communicates changes to co-workers and dentist(s) and assists others when possible o Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. o Complies with policies and procedures of Hudec Dental Associates; i.e. timekeeping, dress code, etc. o Meets goals properly issued and aware that performance will be tracked and monitored periodically to ensure compliance with Hudec Dental Standards. o Other duties as assigned.
