Marketer (Dental Health Educator/Front Desk Role) As a member of the Dental Health Education Team, you will be representing our Dentistry practice to the public on a daily basis. You will share dental health information and best practices at public education events as well as public health events Essential Functions Community Outreach (80%) -Present dental health education materials in public education settings; -Emphasize the importance of good oral hygiene; Inform the community of services offered by The Smile Center for dental health wellness -Distribute oral health and hygiene information to the community -Conduct group demonstrations on proper oral hygiene techniques at educational or health fair events -Create a communication network of community contacts and local businesses; regularly follow up on potential business partnership opportunities -Utilize“Referral Days” to visit with local healthcare providers for patient referrals; visit with public/ retail locations to gain information on upcoming community events -Manage additional projects and special tasks as assigned Front Desk (20%) -Daily activities will be coordinated with the Clinic Manager or Assistant Clinic Manager -Pull charts one day in advance -Greet the customers as if they were a guest in your home; Smile and call them by name; Build trust through a caring demeanor; Provide timely responses and individualized customer care -Answer questions in full and involve others in the office as needed; Provide comforting and reassuring answers to reduce anxiety -Initiate patient paperwork for treatment (employment, insurance, etc.); Conduct insurance verification to obtain correct co-pays -Assist patients with payment or any related questions -Oversee cleanliness and orderliness of lobby -End of day: Balance checks and cash; Assure next-day and three-day appointments are confirmed -Teamwork: Support and back-up team members to build a spirit of cooperation and meet patient need Recall -Book recall appointments with patients who missed appointments or cancelled -Call Continue Treatment patients that are scheduled for a consultation -Call patients who did full mouth exam (FMX), but did not finish schedule treatment -Send six-month cards out two weeks in advance -Teamwork: Support and back-up team members to build a spirit of cooperation and meet patient needs Discharge -Coordinate discharge activities with Clinic Coordinator -Reassure patients of what to expect from being treated – such as discomfort, bleeding, prescriptions, physical activities, etc.; -Provide post-op instructions to patients Enter correct claims into the system -Provide patient receipt and appointment card Schedule patient appointment to continue patient treatment Teamwork -Support and back-up team members to build spirit of cooperation and meet patient needs Competencies of Excellence Leading Others and Influence: Develops and communicates goals; Enhances commitment to organization through acknowledgment of contributions and recognition for progress; Structures situation to create a desired impact and to maximize the changes of a favorable outcome -Integrity and Credibility: Able to gain the trust and respect of patients, co- workers and leaders; Exhibits professional demeanor; Takes responsibility for own mistakes, does not blame others -Initiative and Results Orientation: Exhibit a strong work ethic with a focus on quality, customer satisfaction, and business results; Sets specific, challenging goals; Measures results; Handles crisis effectively; Exhibits tenacity in reaching goals -Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Understands attitudes, interest, needs and perspectives of others; Expresses ideas concisely; Tailors communication to specific person/audience; Anticipates and manages effects of communication -Concern for Order and Quality: Keeps records, checks quality of work and documentation Teamwork: Work to develop friendly and supporting atmosphere; Pitches in and help others -Self-Management: Ability to perform tasks with minimal supervision under strict deadlines; Exhibits self-confidence when interfacing with the patient; Functions effectively under pressure; Manages own behavior to prevent or reduce feelings of stress -Customer Service: Adheres to proper clinical practices; Becomes a trusted advisor to the patient -Adaptability: Adapts to change in direction in order to support changing priorities -Location and Travel Requirements This position is primarily based at one of the established The Smile Center San Antonio locations when travel is not required. This position requires up to 50% travel. Travel is primarily local during business day. Job Requirements A minimum of 1 year experience in a dental office environment with customer interface highly desired Intermediate to advance computer use and data entry skills High School Diploma or equivalent Valid Driver’s License required Bilingual (English/Spanish) highly preferred Reliable transportation; ability to travel to community events WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS The work environment characteristics and physical demands are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works in a professional office setting and occasionally works outside in weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions when in the field.
